Thanks for the post KAB. Keep up the good work...I'm glad to see they have PRE alpha kicking around, and testing on user courses. Hopefully the issues that arise will be handled in a timely manner. I've asked Santa to give me a copy for Christmas....fingers crossed lmao

Dude, I could tell you some serious stuff that is not okay yet, like the funny tale of the double yard disturbance or the sad, sad story of the belly-up fringe. It's a noisy, messy construction site out there and all of us alphistas have been told to wear protective goggles and hard hats at all times...
I'll try to publish a few more pictures this week-end, but they won't reveal a big deal more.

No pictures, instead a woefully short video. The mini-drama seems to be heading in the right direction, but fails to deliver a happy ending. HD viewing recommended...
the slightly stuttering ball motion is due to genuine FPS issues within the pre-alpha, but also aggravated by running a HD video screen capture alongside it.
As for the menus, they will all change...

So, is there an AI yet to actually swing a club ? The ball roll looked pretty good but the bounce and how it quickly hugged the ground seemed odd...

Work is currently on going for the player animation.
Motion capture has already been carried out back in April (in partnership with another company - GeneratorAtOne) so all the relevant swing data has been recorded. The guys used a player called Jake Scott who has played on Web.com Tour and recently played in the Cleveland Open at Lakewood GC.

No, axe360, if by AI you mean a 3D golfer avatar. And why would you mean that in the first place? AI? Huh?
The first bounce of the ball was dampened a lot by the upslope in the green that you can see about 20ft short. it's quite steep and the ball vanishes from view for a frame or so.
True, physics will need some more tweaking and I'm very happy to report that, well, all of us in the pre-alpha team and the Devs, hm... and their grandmothers, too, well, we sorta kinda figured that out already. So, sweet, innocent public, here's the pre-alpha mantra once more: You are not seing a game in action here, you are cordially invited to catch a short glimpse of a work in progress, the first stage of the commencement of the beginning of the pre-start of a pre-game.

Why is it that by me asking if you guys are seeing/using an AI to hit the ball with, so confusing to you? When we had a little beta a long time ago the ball was being launched from a box.. Not that confusing really...
Daz knew exactly what I meant... And you guy's are beta testing the game?

@axe360 - I think you are confusing people by the term 'AI', which stands for artificial intelligence, and has nothing to do with a human controlled golfer. It is sometimes used to describe a computer controlled opponent golfer though.

Ok, this, do you have one of these things that holds and swings a golf club? I'm guessing not....

And axe360, for future reference, those thingys are called "avatars". When they are our computer controlled opponents in a golf game they use AI, artificial intellingence, to whip our asses. When they are controlled by us as our "avatars" they generally just suck at golf.

I knew what Axe was referring to, even if 'technically' he had referred to it incorrectly, lol.
Although I don't call them AVATAR's as I usually refer to them as the PLAYER ANIMATION.

Thanks Daz.. I would be interested in having someone from PG tell us what they call it because I sure don't want to cause any more mass kaos/confusion...... I do like Player Animation, quite frankly though, I just call my guy, axe... lol

Actually, your name is confusing.... in a strange way, but not by any fault of your own. I knew another person called axe who is unfortunately no longer with us. As I say, it is strange to see your handle again, but it's also a good reminder of a great character I once loosely knew..
