Using cfg files to customise free cam movements

Download this file:

http://perfectparall...f188f66b33cb128

Its a file call slowcam.cfg

Place this in the steam perfect golf/config folder

In game bring up the console (F8) and type exec slowcam

---------------------------------------------

This will set the freecam to speed values set in the cfg file and you can customise them to suit and even have multiple files for fast movement, slow movements etc etc.

Thank you!  This works much better for putting now.  Is there a way to have this autoload with the game if desired?

Edit:

Nevermind.  I saw in the 1.3.9.4 release thread that @johnmeyer posted that renaming the file to "autoexec.cfg" will allow it to autoload.

Thanks again!

Thank you Mike!

Q:  Is there any way to disable the camera bouncing up off of the terrain?

I really just need to get down to ground level-ish and if the camera would just "stop" at the terrain level as opposed to bouncing up off of it, my life would be so much happier!

Wondering if autoexec.cfg will ever come to be for JNPG?

Yes, I'm so lazy I don't want to exec the cfg manually all the time!

Just looked, start of each line begins with:

--

Would that, by chance, make the settings stick as opposed to having to reset them every time you start the game?

Once the slowcam.cfg is in the config folder rename it to autoexec.cfg and it will run automatically.  Works a charm.

Thanks Mike! Put this in and the freecam stopped wandering to the right constantly. Don't know why...don't care...it works!

Hey Buck, some of us testers brought that up when it first came out but I think PG was to busy? I am glad to see it brought up again, maybe they can revisit it as I believe it would be a gr8 feature..

@Mike:  For reference for all of us, could you please share what the defaults are for the values in the Slowcam file you shared?

Thank you!

Hi Buck,

I haven't changed the settings for the F5 camera (largely because I don't use it!), so in the console, I checked my default settings and they are:

cam_sensX=1

cam_sensY=0.5

cam_forwardSpeed=25

cam_sideSpeed=25

cam_upSpeed=5

Hope that helps.

You're welcome, Buck.  I've been playing with the autoexec.cfg (I always want to type autoexec.bat) this morning, and got to thinking one could probably take that file out of the folder, and load up the game to check the defaults.  I haven't confirmed that works, but I can't see why it wouldn't.  Anyway, it's probably moot now ....  :)

Removing the cfg does return the game to defaults, but it's kind of a pain to check defaults in the console unless you know the first few letters of the commands.

Did the download, added it to my PG config files, renamed it autoexec.cfg.  Went into game...and the F8 screen doesn't even come up.  Nothing, nada, zip.

Was in JNPG when I downloaded it so thought to pop out, pop back in and went into a game...still no F8 screen.

Anyone see what I did wrong here?  Thanks!

I hit the key just below the escape key up the top left of the keyboard to get the console up. F8 does nothing for me either.

Go into the settings and see what key is assigned to the console. I'll bet it's ~, not F8.

Yea, figured out the "shift ~" brought it up for me also.  But now that I can access it, I've no idea what to do to change the cam settings.

Now I think I need a "How To Alter CFG Files For Dummies".  Truly do not want to try something without knowing what I'm doing is the correct way of doing it.  (I'm sure there are others in my boat as well).
