Yea, figured out the "shift ~" brought it up for me also. But now that I can access it, I've no idea what to do to change the cam settings.
Now I think I need a "How To Alter CFG Files For Dummies". Truly do not want to try something without knowing what I'm doing is the correct way of doing it. (I'm sure there are others in my boat as well).
Just another reason that the console should be locked and all changes made only through the game UI. I'm sure one or more will be along to take issue once again, but that's my story and I'm sticking with it, unless one of the developers can assure me that there is nothing within the console that could be changed that improves competitive advantage. Then and only then will I back off this position.

I truly don't why you worry about the console so much...
Do you realize the Official Steam Controller itself has Official Steam software to alter, fine tune and tweak controller axis sensitivities?
You can literally "cheat" by using official Steam hardware on RTS-C
The console is really the least of concerns if worried about cheaters.

Buck, I didn't know that probably because I'm not a gamer and don't use anything but a mouse. My interest in this game, which I think is pretty high, will increase substantially once the Career Mode is implemented. Online competitive play isn't really my interest but I do think that for those that enjoy it, cheating should be as difficult as feasible. I believe that locking the console 'could' potentially help. I think all can agree that cheating will never be eliminated.
My concern about the console is strictly due to the fact that I have no idea what items that may affect competitiveness can be modified. I asked that question many times but none of the developers have chosen to respond.

Yeah - It's a pretty tough thing to combat because for most games it's a huge *feature* to be able to customize the controls to your liking, whereas here in Golf, that exact same feature is what enables people to fudge the system.
Really not sure there's anything Devs can honestly do other than some type of "controller/device calibration" at startup that would adjust the game based upon the input ranges and sensitivities it was receiving at that time. But even then, I'm sure someone would disable whatever they are doing for calibration and then reenable it for gameplay somehow.
Never ending circle.
And just one more time about the console - I've spent hours digging around and playing with different things in the Console and I've yet to come across anything that impacts competitive advantage.
I'm to the point where I hope we can get a Developer to weigh in just to assuage any fears you might have about this.

They did respond, you just missed it. It was a patch a long time ago that fixed some things in the console that people could use. This happened like last August or something.
So rest assured that cheating is very difficult to do in a game mode you don't participate in..

Thank you for that Crow - I also missed that.

You and I are in agreement on this point. A response from them confirming your opinion is all that is required to satisfy my and I assume others that basically agree with my concern.

Not sure I understand your point. If you mean that the fixes last year were controller related, we didn't even have that game mode then. What mode are you referring to that I 'don't participate in'.

I think this is the third thread that's been crapped on with "the console is going to lead to cheating".
Just quit it already. We're tired of hearing it.

They fixed access to the stuff in the console that people could cheat with and you yourself said you don't play online.
Saying, "I don't play online so there better not be any cheating" is like saying "I don't vote Democrat but they need to stop using superdelegates". It doesn't have anything to do with you and the devs arn't just going to stop what their doing and reply to something that, in your own words, doesn't affect you.

Easy solution, one of the developers can put this to bed with one post, if my concern is unwarranted. I get tired of seeing other unending discussions also I've given up trying to curtail them because as I've been told many times, if you are interested than don't read them.

Yeah, this thread needs to get back on topic.

Crow, I now understand your statement. Just because I don't play online (much) doesn't mean that others with this same concern don't play online. It's a community discussion whether you approve or not, sorry.

Start a thread about console cheating instead of bringing it up in every other discussion about the console. It's really that simple.

and why are there 3 threads on console modification??? Totally unnecessary, I wish there was a way to consolidate similar threads. I've made my point, again, so this is my last post on the subject, for now.

Who cares?
We know what you think without you having to threadcrap and repeat it in every thread.
Whatever, your tolerance for some and disdain for others says alot. You obviously haven't been monitoring all of the threads. Constant repetition of an issue is surely not new with me. While I could, I won't point out examples because I don't want to start a war. As I said previously, if my posts bother you, you can either skip over them or place me on ignore. Why my concern about potential cheating issues with an open console bothers you baffles me. All I'm trying to do is to get the developers to indicate that my suspicions are incorrect. Since, to date, they have not responded, I'll continue to ask. Please note, the fact that the developers do not respond to specific issues is not a new issue. In fact, it's quite common and a practice that I disagree with.
I'm really not trying to start an argument with you. I believe that I have a valid concern and only ask that the developers address it. I have no idea why it seems to 'piss' you and others off. The fact that the developers have not responded to date doesn't seem like justification to me.

But you have no evidence that your concern is valid, do you?
Can you point us to a tweak you can do in the Console that is altering the competitive landscape?

Obviously you misunderstand my position. If one has access to some of the guts of the game 'console' and I have no idea of all of its content, how do I know that it can't be manipulated. I've never indicated that people are in fact cheating as a result of having access. My question from day 1 has always been, 'can access to the console lead to cheating'? I've never accused anyone of cheating, I just want to know that modifying items outside the UI does not offer the possibility of cheating. Why is that so hard to comprehend????
Various members of the community have responded that access to the console does not lead to cheating opportunities. Since my last name is 'Thomas' as in doubting, all I'm asking is that one of the developers, Andrew or Mike, verify that. If verified by them, I'm a happy camper and will move on. Until then, I will continue to bring this up, as others repeatedly bring up their pet peeves.

spy88,
If you've downloaded and renamed the file to autoexc.cfg, there should be nothing else you need to do. Just start the game and you should notice a change in the sensitivity of the F5 camera. If you find the camera speeds are still not to your liking, you can close the game, adjust the values in the autoexec.cfg file, and then restart the game and see if they are more to your liking.
To make changes in the autoexec.cfg file, simply open it using Notepad (assuming you're on Windows OS), make the change and then close the file. You will be prompted to save your changes, which of course, you should.
This method can consume a lot of time opening and closing the game for every tweak to the camera sensitivity setting you try. To avoid that, you can enter the console and make the changes directly from the console.
In the console, type a portion or the full name of the setting (like sens or cam_semsY). You will see the current setting displayed. There are two ways to change that setting from the console:
1. Click on the setting in the list provided below the top line, and then use backspace key to delete the current setting and then type the new setting.
2. Type the full name of the setting along with its new value, like this ...... cam_sensY 0.6
Then you can try the F5 camera with that Y axis sensitivity of 0.6. Keep adjusting the settings in the console until you find one you prefer. Repeat this for each camera setting: cam_forwardSpeed, cam_sideSpeed, cam_upSpeed
Then, you can edit the autoexec.cfg to reflect all of your preferred settings, and you'll not have to visit the console again.
