Yes. The Jack Nicklaus name adds a lot of clout to a product.

But, surely it couldn't have been a free endorsement.

Get out your checkbooks.

Yeah, that jump all the way up to $34.99 is just ridiculous, dontcha think?

An interesting stat to track now will be the sales of Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf on Steam Spy.  Right now, Perfect Golf is shown as having 14,301 +/- 2,928 owners.  It will be interesting to see how that number climbs over the next couple of weeks.  I wonder though if it will reset the sales as if it's a completely new product, since it's now called Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf?  Either way, the numbers will speak for themselves...

A nice bit of news, hopefully it helps the game continue to evolve and grow. Dying for a real career mode and know it's going to be a ways away, but perhaps this gets us closer to that happening.

Excited for the real course designs as well.

Is this for real, or has Steam been hacked?

Yeah! I have been a Jack Nicklaus player and designer from 1999 to 2015 so I must say I think the name is great.
Almost like 16 year long awaited upgrade of JN6 (and what an update) ;)

It does kind of feel that way a little bit. GBC was my course design program of choice before Links' came out.

Nope.  Not at all.

$34.95 is not expensive at all.

Press release on Nicklaus.com (with a photo of Muirfield Village!) - pretty sweet.

Figured this was legit when a thread I created last week (with the exact same title) was deleted. :)  I subscribe to Erik Lugris' youtube page and he had uploaded (a bit too soon I guess) an announcement video.

Congrats to the devs!  This game has made so much progress over the last year and a half.  Hopefully it will continue to do so in the coming months and years.

I noticed that GameSpot posted the Muirfield Village screenshot as well.  Will the Nicklaus course designs be free when they're released?

I remember when I joined the Assetto Corsa early access I got the game for around £24.When it then went on full release it was £39.

That is the idea behind early access, that you get alpha/beta state games at a reduced price and also the opportunity to help test and bug hunt during game development. Then the game gets released it a retail price and you have saved some dosh.

I personally don't think the JNPG price is ridiculous at all.

The Jack Nicklaus name is the ultimate golf product endorsement. It is second to none. So, they should be congratulated for negotiating that deal.

The Jack Nicklaus name provides instant credibility, over and above all of the other golf games currently on the market.

Based on the Nicklaus name alone, there definitely should be a huge influx of purchases to the game.

Hopefully, having the Jack Nicklaus team on board will allow them to hire more programmers, so that they can get rid of some of these nagging game bugs that have gone unfixed for months.

Even if they don't have direct access to the Nicklaus team, they should have considerably more funds to work with... soon enough.

WOW! Great to see all the hard work has paid off with this big step forward. Wishing you all my best AJ, MJ, Erik, Brian and the rest of the PP team. Now my courses, if ever released, will look even more lame ;)

The Golf Club sells for 28 EUR ...but to play all courses you need the Collectors Edition at 10 EUR more ...so that´s 6 EUR more than PG.

Have no regrets of buying TGC , but are totally annoyed when the games tells me to ugrade to be able to play them courses ...

So does this mean that we'll be getting Muirfield Village soon? More importantly, since JN's name is now attached does this mean PP won't have too much trouble releasing the PGA Tour courses they've already created?!!! That would be great!
