Are the meshes for fairways, greens, bunkers and rough capable of being "texture painted" or are you limited to a single texture map per entity? I am trying out the terrain texture painting overlay with varying opacities in Unity and like the weathered/distressed grass look I can achieve but did not know whether this technique will be achievable with the CF mesh/spline whatever it is. Seems useful for improving the bunker look as well if possible.

Just the one texture kit per mesh. On the plus side, though, that kit contains a colour base texture, a detail shader and a normal map, so a bit of variety can be achieved with it.

Another way of adding a bit of visual diversity would be to draw "child meshes" into a parent mesh. Imagine a standard fairway mesh with regular, clean fairway textures, but later you can fill spots within that space with slightly different meshes, based on the same elements, for instance with a "dried out fairway" or a "muddy fairway", to add variety to what would otherwise be a rather uniform surface.

There's always a way, but there's never a quick fix. If you want more, then you have to work more to get it.
