There is no autoexec.cfg file in the Config Folder.  We all have to make one manually, then copy and paste it into the Config Folder.

Here's how to do that.

1. Open Notepad

2. Copy and paste the color scheme you want for your meter. See this topic

3. Save the Notepad file this way. Where the field says File Type, choose All Files

4. On the top left of Notepad (File), click Save As.

5. Type in the file name autoexec.cfg then save the file

Here is the Click Path:  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Perfect Golf\Config

Important NoteMake sure your swing choice in the game is set to Swing Meter for the new autoexec.cfg to work.

You should have a blank file, not a text file.  After you have completed these steps, right click the new autoexec.cfg file, copy it then navigate to the Config Folder in Perfect Golf.  Right click your mouse and choose Paste.  Now you have the color scheme you want for your 3click meter.

When you have chosen your own colors or copied the codes that some of us have provided, and you like the color contrasts, save that file in a safe place so you do not need to create it again.  See here

Altering files and stuff within the game? Is this not a way for players to cheat? On a serious note why cant we all just play the game as it is made by the developers , why the need to alter files and stuff im no computer tech but come on it must open doors for an uneven field

Not to worry Maxie. This has no more effect on the game then making our names colored in Steam/PG.

Underscores and periods will make that never work. Dashes and commas!

Kenneth,

Any reasons you're not following all the help the guys are giving in various threads?

Like Mulligan says, your entry has underscores and full stops, which are wrong. All the examples being given clearly show dashes and commas.

Another thing, slightly off topic, could the devs please give us a quick and dirty post on the syntax for cfg files?

Besides obvious stuff, it's pretty much the blind leading the blind here.

2 things I want to know:

1. What do the double dashes do?

2. How to remark lines so I can tinker with, say, meter color and save along the way until I have 2-3 that work well for me?

You could save several diff cfg files for colors, say green.cfg and blue.cfg, then you can execute them in the console

with exec green or exec blue.

this besides the autoexec.cfg.  i have fixed my fps in the autoexec too.

During the experimenting I suggest adding a shortcut to the Config Folder to the desktop. Once you have the Config Folder in view, right-click it, choose Sendto Desktop Create Shortcut.  Then you do not have to navigate there each time you want to add an experimental .cfg file.

A good practice with any computer task is to put the Target Folder on the desktop as a shorcut, then delete it when you have completed your work.

No thanks, I'd like to be able to store everything in one file since it's only going to be a few changes. Remarking is necessary for documenting.

What was wrong with your FPS?

its better to have a steady fps than one that goes from 30 to 50, so i set it at 35.

Mulligan,

In my testing with the autoexec.cfg file, after all of the commands I put TEST on the next line.  This seems to make the last 'command' be ignored, but it also seems to ignore the remainder of the file.  I need to do a bit more testing, but so far, I've got a few meter color settings below the TEST line and they aren't executed when I start the game/round.  So my file currently looks like this:

--game_upColor 253,253,61,255
--game_downColor 254,61,65,255
--cam_sensX 0.7
--cam_sensY 0.3
--cam_forwardSpeed 7
--cam_sideSpeed 5
--cam_upSpeed 1
--cam_flybySpeed 0.35
--gr_lineWidth 2
--gr_cellWidth .5
TEST

The default values are as follows
--cam_sensX=1
--cam_sensY=0.5
--cam_forwardSpeed=25
--cam_sideSpeed=25
--cam_upSpeed=5
--cam_flybySpeed=1
--game_upColor 181,171,29,199
--game_downColor 14,103,17,199

LINKS meter colors
--game_upColor 253,253,61,255
--game_downColor 254,61,65,255

RED up; GREEN down
--game_upColor 255,0,0,199
--game_downColor 0,255,0,199

BLUE up; RED down
--game_upColor 0,0,255,199
--game_downColor 255,0,0,199

Maybe similar can work for you so you can remark within the file as you see fit.  To change the colors, you'd have to copy the two lines from below and overwrite the top two lines of the file.

IMO, all of the changes being talked about in this thread should be available in the normal game UI. Too many people that use computers just don't understand or want to understand file construction and placement.

While none of the changes being discussed in this thread have any competitiveness impacts, I'm not convinced that the console doesn't contain some items that could be modified to gain an advantage. I've stated my position before, the console should be locked and unavailable to users for change. All changes should only be available through the game UI.

Thanks, Armand.  Hopefully the devs will eventually give us at least some rudimentary syntax, for now TEST is better than nothing.

You're right, now that I know it can be capped I'm off to fiddle! Thanks for the tip!
