They have contracted out Motion capture for the animations, so it's in the works.

Is this a fact or a guess?

When I read Andrew's statement on this it seemed to me like this had been put on the back burner because it's a very expensive item and they have higher priorities at the moment.

Several months ago it seemed like work was in progress (again based on their comments) but something seems to have changed in my opinion.

I was replying to the previous poster suggesting they use pro players and what the plan was. Expensive could mean more than just cost, as I'm sure it is much more involved incorporating them into the game and GUI, which takes time. And they have more pressing things to do than replace something that is already in the game at this point. That's what I take out of all the chatter.

Modders for Tennis Elbow have managed to make quite good pro player animations; I was wondering if PG will ever allow such a thing.  Wasn't suggesting they actually use pro players.

Andrew has stated in an interview many moons ago that he would welcome the modders, so that would be a possibility.

Where can these be found if you can mention this on the site as I would be interested in seeing these in action

In YouTube search for Tennis Elbow 2013, there'll be videos of the mods.  The facial details are poor, but the players' strokes look good enough.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just wanted to ask again to the Devs...

Is there any light you can shed on console releases?

Is there any chance the game will be out for XBOX before the end of 2016?

Assume PS4 is a ways off (if at all)?

(I'm mainly asking as I'm in that time of year when I grab a console and play the NHL game and ideally I'd like to get a console that would also be able to play PG)

I am kind of in the same dilemma Buck as I have a PS3 and Xbox 360 and am going to get another one and probably the PS4.  The reason for the PS4 is that my favorite sports title besides JNPG is MLB The Show and its only on the PlayStation and my hope is that someday that JNPG will come to the PS4.  Oh by the way love hockey games but believe it or not my favorite hockey title was NHL94 for the Sega and I wore that game out.

NHL 94/95 was arguably the best hockey game ever made. It still lives on with online leagues and live events. PGA tour 3 for Sega was also very good.
