Took a break for awhile.... it was killing me. File is starting to get large enough that it is really slowing down the machine; have to shut trees off.

Thanks to everyone that helped me out with getting the cypresses; I have a couple different models that are working and they look good. I finally bit the bullet and hunted for some houses and other course infrastructure and it is actually helping move things along. There is still a lot of unfinished stuff outside the boundaries of the course but I'm slowly finding ways to deal with that.

Still work to be done but I'm starting to see the end of the tunnel and it isn't far off.

Hello Mathew,

Ditto to pingzing's comments. I appreciate your efforts and the course is looking fantastic. Cannot wait to play there. One of my favorite all time courses.

Performance is becoming an issue the longer I work on the course. I added three or four more houses to the project and now it is starting to lock up after only a few minutes of work. I've started deleting some trees and bushes just to see if that affects it at all.

Are SketchUp houses usually memory hogs?

I know nothing about the process, but is it possible to make the course "most of the way" and then add in buildings slowly (and perhaps leave some out if needed ultimately)?

Any chance you could list the file names so we could look at them? A highly detailed building meant for 3d purposes other than gaming could be 100k+ tris and have multiple high res textures. I'm guessing you know this and have decent lower poly buildings but thought I should still ask just in case.

The course is pretty much finished otherwise, so these are the final touches.

I'll look into the file sizes of the houses. There seem to be some excessive things added to the houses like outdoor furniture and lawn pads which aren't necessary.... I've also been deleting those, although I've kept the swimming pools because, well, Pebble Beach :)

Yeah - Dump the patio furniture.

No need for that...

I'll have the butler put that stuff out when I need to sit down.

The pads will stay much cleaner if I store them inside my pool house anyhow...
