Thanks for taking the time to reply Daz, that all sounds good. I'll now just wait patiently for things to run their natural course :)

Right now there are three options, Player, Panoramic, and Follow. I am not sure if at some time Dynamic would be available that would be the camera option I would use. Right now I'm using Follow.

R,

Using Mouse-Swing you can have either Reverse or Landing cameras enabled as your second camera (as you can with Click). This effectively serves the purpose of the 'Dynamic Cam' as you play the shot from the normal camera position behind the golfer and during the ball flight the camera switches to your choice of second camera.

MJ will have to explain how the 'real time physics' allows these cameras to know where the ball is coming down though.

;)

The dynamic snap camera doesn't know exactly the ball is going to land but it makes a guess based on some of the ball data such as speed, vector, height etc. Of course it doesn't always guess correctly and this is why you sometimes see the reverse snap camera panning to watch the ball as it bounces past!  :)

Thanks InDaSkies, the camera options look great and very similar to Links which is a good thing IMO.  Now that you've spent a decent amount of time with it, what's your overall opinion when compared to Links, TGC etc?

WGT > TW / Links > PG

I'm not mentioning TGC as it only starts a flame war, lol. Also please note, the above is total bo**ocks, lol.

Never played TW enough for comparisons sake. WGT for me was free, that being the only redeeming feature. Links series was, and still is my go to golf game.

PG (as does TGC really) has the opportunity to be held above the other games when doing a 'best golf game list'. Its advantage is that we know what was in TW, JN, PGA, CPG, Links etc. so PG (and again TGC) can try and take all the best bits from these games, add bits that maybe weren't present and end up with the be all and end all of golf games.

For me as it stands today, from the testing I've done, you can see that PG is being guided by people who have a history with the Links series. I personally use Links as my benchmark and PG are making the right strides in that we will end up with a game that will be what we had all wanted a Links update to be. Presently it is playing really well and on a decent PC looks really good. It will only improve.

Folks from TW, may give a different spin on things, and I'm sure we will see elements of TW in PG, which is not a bad thing. I always used to remember forum topics about golf games, that if one day TW and Links 2003 could conceive a golf game what it would be like, lol. Time has come and PG could be that game.

Once Early Access opens, I'm sure there will be those that love it, those that knock it and those that wonder what all the fuss was about. What we need is those that love it to give feedback of where things can be improved and new features that can be added. This is what Early Access is all about. Maybe then we will get the game we have all wanted.

;)

Thanks Daz and I'm also one from the Links camp and this has only increased my anticipation for PG over anything else.

I entirely understand what Early Access is all about and I just hope that PG arent swamped with the many negative posts that will surely follow release on Thursday.  People will undoubtedly be downloading it with expectations of a finished, highly polished game and will be instantly disappointed, not through any fault of PG but due to their own unreasonable expactations (it's only $20 for goodness sake : )

I personally hope that PG stay true to their goal of producing the most realistic golf sim available and don't get too bogged down in dealing with the many gripes that will surely follow.

I'm in this one for the long haul as I'm sure are so many others and it's great fhat PG are seemingly trying to produce a long overdue successor to Links.

Personally I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to contribute to the development of PG.
As I mentioned in another thread, but without reply, in what form should we make comments and recommendations, so that they can be easily logged by the development team?

Thanks a bunch for these videos InDaSkies. I must say, it really look yummy to me! :)  The sounds are good and all these moving bits shure bring things to life on screen. Nice ace btw! ^_^ I already commented in another post on the moving camera thing, so I'm not going to repeat myself on this. I do like the 'side-on' and 'spectator' cams. Nice feature! For me (as a Links RTS-Elite player) the up close player cam will be my choice, without following the ball to the hole as long as there is no fixed cam on the back of the green (without the 'bounce along' camera bit  ). Maybe we can also see some videos from the rough and out of bunkers?

I agree with Daz' conclusions on this. PG indeed definitely is on it's way in taking the lead in golf simulations. The massive input of a truly gifted staff + many long time Linksers can only result in a 5-star game. Me, I started with MS99, quickly switching to JN6-GBC and finally landing in Links03 and never looked back. Although I tinkered a bit with TW and checked TGC out, nothing could touch the Links engine and ballflight dynamics in my book. Playing the game in real life, ballflight and landingdynamics are a huge part of the golfing sensation for me. PG is truely the Next Generation golfsim, picking up were Links03 left off. These are thrilling times!

I really hope that ends up being the case for PG!!!  :) Just watching the Beta game play makes me want this game to be a great game. I love the looks of it, just has that IT factor for me.

After going through early access with TGC I have a good idea what to expect and not to expect as far as early access with PG (good and bad). Personally for me as long as I like it and play it more than I did TGC it will be worth it to me, anything extra is just the icing on the cake.  B)

Over the past couple decades I've purchased and played most every virtual golf game released on PC and consoles.  I guess you could call me a virtual golf game aficionado. ;)

Some golf games I play more and many a lot less, but I don't plan on abandoning the games I'm currently playing (TGC, Links, TW08, PGA Championship Golf 2000) when PG is released for EA.  Heck, I'll probably even end up purchasing EA's PGA Golf.

I'm hoping that when PG is released we can "all just get along" in these forums. ;)

Let 'em bleat, we know what we're working towards.

I am interested in the putting aspect of the game, I'd ask if we can putt from the reverse angle (I find it a lot better to record results/ outcomes in that perspective as the grid opens up towards you rather than disappearing in to the distance), though with 1 day left I think it's too late to ask - just play the game ey!!

This is by far the best golf game I have ever played, with all the options and just the fact that the developers of the game are so in tune with what people want to have in a golf game. And they listen to what you have to say or suggest. This is a work in progress and very exciting watching it evolve. Way better then Links or TGC IMO.

To bad you layed up to short of the hole thats an impossible putt you'll never make it better luck next time thanks for showing us though the replay options of your embarrassing shot

Little known fact when King Arthur was trying to make a golf course and he ran into some conflict. King Arthur: There's a peace only to be found on the other side of war. If that war should come I will fight it!    Other important fact. Read the Book of John in the Holy Bible.
