Yep, it's like the Clambake.

You get to play with StoneComet - same thing. A great guy and just as entertaining.

Do I simply do a Google for FRET II or is there a link?

This is it Sup.

It's a forum based comp. All information and leaderboards are in this thread (just like FRET I).

We have a MEGA.nz storage site where we keep all the recordings to share.

I'll be running it from here until I'm kicked out. It's sort of like selling stuff from the back of your car when you can't afford a shop front.

Are you in?

Ted, as you probably know, I prefer to play my rounds at a level where I will not likely score near par.  The quest for improvement continues ...   :)

I know you probably aren't restricting this to players scoring around par, but I know that I likely won't be near par, barring a miracle round.  I also don't want to unnecessarily handicap my partner with my higher scores.  If that still works in FRET II, then count me in.  Perhaps if you need to remove someone due to an odd number of entrants, I'd be first on that list.

Armand, you would be exempt from all rules if there were any. I insist you play exactly as you like.

Ted,

You allways seem to have the absolute correct answer for these difficult questions (sarcastic, cajoling, or bruatally blunt) - how do you do it?

Your reply to Armand was spot-on.  FRET II, and beyond would be wanting without any of the currrent participants.  It's about fun and competition and ...I'm trying too think of the right phrase - like personalities?  The FRET tournaments are a way to push the Perfect Golf simulator into new territory.  Heh...What is this crap - it's only about the competition.

I was surprised how FRET1 turned out after the initial slow sign-up. Once we got the ten blokes it got on a roll and everyone enthusiastically embraced the format. Even though there was only ten it was just as interesting as if there were many more.

You are right though J - playing with another person on the course revealed 'personalities' and in some respects it was actually better to play a recording than an online PvP round. There are less distractions and, in my circumstances, I seemed to be able to concentrate harder and it paid off in my scoring. It was informative to watch guys getting out of trouble (and in to trouble) and the way they approached the round. It's amazing to see how a player's game ebbs and flows over 18 holes.

I'm looking forward to playing in the Clambake because of the team format. It will be interesting to see how each team reacts together in their recorded rounds - whether it encourages good scoring.

Give it a go guys. Come in and see what you think.

It's very simple maxie. If you decide to join the group for this comp we'll find you a team mate and then it's just a matter of recording a round at one of the courses in the list and then playing against your team mate's recorded round.

We upload the recordings to a storage site for teamies to access the file. There'll be a full set of instructions in the opening post here once we get rolling and you'll find once you've done that once it's a piece of cake.

So basically....

Play a round

Record it

Find the file of the round in your JNPG folder (easy)

Upload it to MEGA.nz (simple)

Download your teamy's file from MEGA.nz and place it in that JNPG folder (a snack)

Play against your teamy's round.

Post your scores here.

All done.

It's just playing rounds of golf and copying a couple of files. Let me know if you're in.

I'll put up the details in Post #1 tomorrow morning (about 8 hours) and we can start playing.

You can play courses in any order.

New guys can join in any time after it starts because it will take a while to get all the rounds done.
