Hi,

Built this course in Unity couple of years back and recently finished all 18 holes and just need to make it look pretty now. Feel free to comment on how it looks and any suggestions are very welcome. Hopefully get this out for testing soon.

Some pictures below and for those interested there are more in the link http://imgur.com/a/it6dY

Great River Country Club is located in the East European country of Slavonia. Most of the holes are played in the sandy coastal forest and some linksy holes running between the sand dunes.

In the last picture there are some darker spots on the green which are splines inside green splines. I notice if too close to the pins they are causing weird things but other than that are there any known reasons not to build green splines inside green splines? I tested few times and didn't see a problem as long as they are not too close to the pins or other splines.

Extraordinary. You set the bar for realism and beauty!

Yeah, I gotta say, that looks superb.  I'm a big fan of your courses.  I look at stuff like this, throw up my hands and say, "Ok, I'm done.  I can stop designing now!"  LOL

These pictures remind me f another issue that I keep meaning to bring up. Why do many of the trees in JNPG have some.much white color to them? Looks odd to me.

As the level of realism goes up, the Speedtree shader sticks out more and more as a limiting factor. I think someone will take a run at improving that.

Maybe this?

FPS seems good but will know for sure when others start testing. There are quite a few trees but I think it helps they are mostly further away from the playing areas. I don't know if the grass planting have some impact but that's something we have full control over by setting the graphics so don't worry too much about it.

Thanks all for the encouraging comments. Will post some updates soon.

Hi,

Good progress here at Great River. Some finishing work done here over the past few days and grass is growing well :) All holes are now done and course will be par 72 not too long with four sets of tees to be playable for all. Few drop shots and blind shots up and around the hills and dunes and it's mostly fairly wide but some greens are well guarded by bunkers.

Course features few short par 4's, driveable for some but can really be tough if you happen to shortside yourself.

2nd 292m Recovery from the right side can be tricky with green tilting left.

12th 299m Pin tucked behind the bunker makes for a tricky approach.

18th 312m well guarded by the bunkers.

And of course how can anyone play virtual golf without a "birdie book". It's complimentary for all ;)

WHOA!!!

Absolutely LOVE the Birdie Book!
That is akin to what many have hoped the overhead map could become (or we could have an alternate view to do)

Superb sir~!
Course is looking truly excellent

Yup, birdie book is great.  I've tried to do something like that in the past, but the amount of cleanup needed in photoshop to make them look presentable was more than I could bear.

Ever been any talk of integrating some abilities for CF to export something that could work as a Birdie Book?
Most ideal would be in game information right on the overhead, but it feels like that's a pipe dream probably.

This is actually something that's on Andrew's radar.  It's just they can't develop everything at once.

Would love to see someone create a companion app for iOS and Android that would essentially deliver this same functionality.  Would be very cool.

Even better I agree!  However, given the rapid pace of development I guess I'm being more realistic when I say that I'd like to see a talanted 3rd party developer bring something like this to the table now.
