WB, that is exactly what I did in the pic I was trying to post. I resized and changed the type. I duplicated a bunker shape moved the copy and changed it to a dirt texture. Copied the original bunker again and resized the duplicate and changed it to concrete. I tried posting pics but everything I tried resulted in a broken picture icon.

I have been using this technique to get FW that goes around the green to be a uniform distance. I copy the green spline Increase the size, adjust around curves, and then overlap the FW spline. I then delete the copied green spline.

Next use will be to copy tee boxes. As of now I only have back tee boxes on my holes.

Well Chris you need to spread the word on how you did this cause it sounds like a godsend. I already described my attempts, but I may be missing a step (it wouldn't be the first time). Keep working on getting the pros (I am not one of those) those screenshots and procedural descriptions. If we can thrash this out it could be a good for the designing community.

Understood about the definitions of parent and child but if you need to delete the copy/duplicate shape and it deletes the original shape then that is an issue.

Suspect that is probably caused by the fact that the cloned spline has the same spline # as the one it was cloned from. If so, not sure if there is any work around for this.(Can the second spline # be changed?)

Some people asking for a cloned shape so they can enlarge it and make a fringe or semi rough etc - you can already do that in the layers library by adding a fringe.

You can also actually clone shapes by going into debug mode in the terrain inspector 'course script' (hit the little cog to the right of it) and duplicating a spline but TBH the reason it's not a regular option is my feeling is that it would lead to a world of cookie cutter tee and bunkers shapes that really is not something we are keep on promoting. Like I said before drawing shapes is so quick I can genuinely say I have never felt the need to clone a shape in CF.

Yeah, I use it to make a first cut sometimes but you have to make sure you account for it by leaving a little more space between that and any splines you put inside it.

I understand Mike, but if you could adjust the duplicate spline afterwards (if you wanted to), this would take care of that "cookie cutter" effect. Having said that, the greenskeepers at many of the top courses go for an even border.

Again, deleting the copied shape has never resulted in the original being deleted any time I have used this method.
