@Axe:

I'm not quite sure what you're saying exactly?

I was just trying to better understand what might be holding back our ability to have R water on more courses in PG at this time.

It's not "rocket science" Buck. J/J. :P  I'm sure it's a little more complicated than I was making it out to be.. ;)

A few tweaks the ocean prefab that is included with CF and reflective lake water can be yours exactly like we use on some of our courses.

Tips: only use one plane/prefab as multiple planes on different levels really screw the FPS (which is why we have only used it currently on flat courses with a single water level) and optimise your course carefully before using it.

Still need to refine it a bit(a lot) but works very well and a lot less of a hit on FPS than the Unity water

Ok...Having messed about with it there are still some places on the course that take a big FPS hit so I will keep tweaking

Cheers RobC

I feel this topic is one that comes along every now and then during the lifespan of all golf games. The issues are different, but the focus is always the same. As designers get more familiar with a course design program, they also start running into limitations that douse the fire of their creativity. This will usually spawn new techniques and design styles that, while not getting rid of limitations, gives a fresh breath of air to designers and the community as a whole. This usually will come from designers that "break the rules", and push the envelope as far as utilizing what the design program CAN DO instead of feeling trapped by what it can't.

For example, the previous JN series(minus the early JNSE), had one big, glaring limitation. Single hole plots instead of a full plot of land. Courses were made from compiling 18 holes that, regardless of the orientation on the "course plot", could not be seen in the game/designer from the hole you were playing/designing. As some of you finish gasping for air, I will say you are correct in thinking that this stifled many people's desire to push forward with designing courses. This limitation led designers to start designing multiple holes in a single plot, copying the plot, and rearranging the tees, shot points, and pin positions. Which gave the player a view of another hole while playing an adjacent hole(s). Others would take a screenshot of an "adjacent" hole, and turn that into an 2D object that would be placed on the current hole. This gave the illusion of seeing an adjacent holes while playing another one. Many courses were released shortly after these techniques were learned, and the techniques were refined with each release that used them. In time, the effect wore off, and another limitation became the target of criticism.

As a person that has spent most of his playing the game referenced above, I am blinded by the potential this game and designing program offer. I can see that most of the complaints people have are valid, but I am excited to see how people overcome these issues in time. There are going to be ebbs and flows in the community, but that's not a bad thing. The GBC community has seen many "classes" of designers come and go, and each one brought a new approach to the game that reinvigorated the community.

Also, like I have said before, it's awesome to be playing a game that the developers haven't abandoned yet. That alone should bring you a sense that there are some positive changes on the horizon, and we may get some of the things we are asking for. That is not something I have experienced for more than a decade.

Ok, so, upload pic to one of the many free sites, I use https://postimages.o... pretty simple.

Once you uploaded your pic, hover over the icons on the menu here and the 11th one from left to right is an "image" icon. The square box.

Click on that and paste your link.

If you use "postimage.org" after you hit  "Choose your Image" and navigate to where you keep your pics. I send them to my desktop, upload that pic, then look down and the 2nd one is the " Direct Link", copy that and paste it into the "Image" box on the menu here and that's it.

Nice, but water is reflecting the sky box and not the dynamic sky you are using.
