I realise that this will likely have been discussed earlier at some point, but i cannot find the thread.
Going to buy a new Laptop soon and wonder what the Operating requirements will be for JNPG 2 ?

In the absence of actual recommended specs, buy the laptop with the highest performing CPU/GPU and a minimum of 16 GB of system memory along with Windows 10 Professional.
CPU: any Intel i7 or AMD Ryzen/Threadripper CPU
GPU: Any modern nVidia/AMD only with at least 4 GB or more of onboard memory.
Much easier and cheaper to do on desktop, laptop will be much more expensive and challenging to find.

A bit of a side topic but here goes: instead of waiting months and months on end on PG2, with its 3.0 requirements, would it be too much to ask to get PG1 up to speed/par/date?.. Can we see this happening or what? Just wondering.

Highly doubt you will see any significant development effort for the current PG version, IMO.

It'd be a complete waste of time.

The reality is that JNPG is not going to get any attention due to the work going on with JNPG 2 but its still a hell of a game and if you want proof do what I just did and go play a round of TGC2 and you will come running back. LOL.

Looking at purchasing this Spec :-
- Windows 10
- Intel® Core™ i7-7500U Processor
- RAM: 16 GB / Storage: 256 GB SSD
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 940MX
im using a laptop with 16gb ram(very good) and the 960m card and it is very playable even at high settings.
Mike posted in another thread he did not expect it to be much harder on the video cards with 2, so it is just another sit and wait thing
seems most here are going with the 1060,1070 cards i would look for one with either of those cards if i was looking to upgrade now.

The graphics cars is poor. I would look at getting something with 970 minimum on laptop to play PG1 and 2 with high settings.

Can someone please tell me if we will still be able to play the current version of PG even after PG2 is up and running, in case it takes some time for people to upgrade their rigs due to cost issues?

Is this a desktop machine or a laptop? Either way I'd at least go with a GTX 1060 or better graphics card (1070 seems to be the sweet spot).

I already have a desktop which is Windows 7 Home Premium Spec :-
64Bit sp1
Intel Core i7-4790 cpu@3.60ghz, 8.0 gb ram
AMD Radeon r9 200 Series
(I have always been afraid to upgrade this to Windows 10 in case I have problems - not a real tech expert here)
The missus needs a laptop (Which I will also be using when we are away), therefore, the most I am willing to spend would be this Spec for a laptop :-
That will have to do.

I would really try to go a notch up on this if you can.
Do what you have to (including waiting/saving) in order to stretch and get a 1060

Agreed.
nVidia GTX 1060 or higher if you can.
Also agree with Buck.....wait if you have to in case it is more than what you want or can spend now.....you get one shot at getting the GPU in a laptop right....

I appreciate all your input gents, and have decided to push that boat out a wee bit further.
I am now looking at :-
Windows 10 Home 64-bit English
16GB, DDR4, 2400MHz
Dual drives with 256GB PCIe NVMe M.2 Solid State Drive
+ 1TB 5400 rpm Hard Drive
15.6-in. display
8th generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor,
NVIDIA® GeForce® 1060
That should do the Trick ?
Really do appreciate all your responses.
