I'm clearing some hdd space by putting all the height maps I've made onto mega or dropbox (except for the Australian, New Zealand and Spanish resort courses...guessing there's not too much interest there).

Most of them came about from a combination of curiosity (seeing what countries had lidar available) and hearing about the course somewhere.  I went a bit nuts, incorrectly figuring there were armies of course designers out there when really there's a handful.  The kinda uncertain future of the game probably played a part for some guys too.

99% of them will never get done but now that they're not on my PC, it's out of sight and out of mind.

PS Some might be on someone's to do list on OGT.

PPS Not trying to offend Kablammo with the heavy focus on real tracks ;)

PPPS The dimension/s are sometimes for the overhead jpeg, sometimes for the terrain - if there's confusion just ask.

If you do St David’s then please renovate the hotel up in the hillside. I once hit a 9 iron, tee’d up on a half and half carton, from the third floor balcony onto the 16th green. These days I’d thin it into the balcony wall and take my own eye out. Oh to be young and stupid again.
Fantastic course and would be a great addition to anyone’s portfolio.

I was thinking of taking on something from the rota; it looks like Hoylake and Lytham are available.

The lidar is a few years old, but generally speaking I don't think links courses ever get major work done to them.

Hey Jon

I gave North Lakes height map a try but didn't quite come out. Is this something I did wrong or is the height map data the problem?

Lytham renoved a number of bunkers {30+ if I heard correctly) as there were lots of filled in pots from watching the coverage of the RICOH Women's British Open.

Right, so I've got prestwick, but i need dimensions of the course as in what to set the heightmap size to. its a 4096 * 4096 image but i have but i have no clue as to its real size, plus I'm having grief setting the heightmap/image rotation correctly. any help would be appreciated

I'm looking at it in Unity now Jamie, and there's obviously something not aligning.  Give me some time.

Valderrama, Royal Lytham & St Annes and ... The Kennemer course! WOW! For me, as a Dutchie, the Kennemer would be a bonus. This course has hosted Dutch Opens on the European tour and I have walked the course as a spectator. It is one of the classic courses in Holland situated in the Dunes near the sea. I sure hope somebody would take a crack at this beauty.

I only added that one last night on a whim!  I was reading a lidar article that mentioned Holland had opened up its lidar access, and Kennemer was one of only two Dutch courses mentioned in a golf book I have.  I went with older data because the newer stuff was so big it crashed my PC.  Should be accurate enough.

Looks a fairly unpretentious course, not many bunkers at all.  The website flyovers will be really useful if anyone takes it on.

Found some data for Cabo del Sol...didn't produce a great looking terrain but probably not bad as a starting point.
