Updated. Also, a note - the dimensions are sometimes for the overhead jpeg, sometimes for the terrain. My mistake. If there's confusion just ask.

Hi All,
Thank you for posting these. I have completed Fox Chapel (at least as far the main course elements). This is my first build. I was wondering if people would be interested in playing the course and giving me some feedback since this is my first one.

Go for it. Most here use either Dropbox or Mega.

So here is my first course I've ever done. I had this done awhile ago, but kept having trouble with the hazards...I watched every tutorial and help forum, but still can not get rid of the 2000 yard drop bug. Here is the dropbox link. Let me know how I did. Would love to get some feedback.

Looked good to me Joe. The 14th tee is on a severe slope, so either the spline has to be bought in a bit or the area flattened. Speaking of tees, so far there's only one set, do you plan to add more? I also spotted a few 2D trees in areas close to a fairway; it's a personal thing, I just think they belong much further out. Good choice for your first course as the default textures seem to match American courses quite well.

It is nice to see another real western PA course in JNPG. Fox Chapel is just across the Allegheny River from my home, but I have never had the opportunity to play there so it is great to finally have the a go at it. As jt83 said it matches the look of the area very well. Thank You for sharing this with us, and keep at it as you have a real design talent.

Set your X,Y to the same size as your terrain plot. For example the course I'm doing is 1500 x 1500. So this is what my overhead looks like.
Asus ROG G751JT-CH71 Gaming Laptop
2.5 GHz Intel Core i7– 4710HQ
Nvidia GTX 970M 3GB GDDR5
16 GB DDR3
Windows 10 64-bit

If you're starting fresh, this is how I do it -
start a new project
import the Courseforge tutorial package
get rid of the trees
go to terrain settings and change the dimensions (in order x, y, height, resolution, 1024, 128, 2048, 1024)
import the RAW
go back to Windows and put the overhead in the assets folder of this new project (might take a few seconds to appear in Unity)
back in Unity, in the texture section add a new texture, drag the overhead image up to the square, adjust it to correct dimensions
select that texture, pick the biggest brush, and paint the whole terrain
Justin and Larry make packages to import which is faster.

If you've already downloaded a height map from this thread, follow the steps I set out. If it's too long-winded, Justin or Larry (or me possibly) can take a height map and put it into a package so all you have to do is open Unity and import it, but we need to know the course.

Got something going now so thanks for sticking with me. Now I'm having the issue that outside of CF the overhead is nice and clear but in CF it's pretty blurred and it's very difficult to see most shapes with any clarity.

Click on the overhead in Assets. In the Inspector change max size to 4096 and format to Truecolor and apply.

If the original overlay size is 8000+ width and height, change it to 8182. You can also save it as compressed to reduce the size of the created course. Changing it to compressed does not seem to affect the image that much.
