looking very nice Birdie- whats the framerates looking like

It's not easy to keep them around 60 everywhere. In one of these shots I checked them and they were slightly above 40. On the tees and fairways they are okay most of the time. Really a big task to keep them high. In the end for sure I will reduce LOD of all trees not in the front rows. There is still some room for improvement. And for sure you can always bring back some fps by lowering cam and shadow distance or tree detail in game (what I hate to do...). I think the biggest improvement i get is when going down one step from 4k. On my PC it still looks nice then but to be true it's something... what I...
And I also wanted to ask this, what do you (especially RTS or sim players) think or how do you feel about these numbers?
Can you still enjoy or have a good experience if frames go down to around 40 here and there? Or is this a general no-go playability wise?
Appreciate all inputs!

40 is generally not a problem with me using RTS. Those screenshots look fantastic, and I prefer the saturation level in the third view.

Surprising but promising to hear this. I thought in the past I was reading it's nearly essential to have 60 fps for RTS. Or was it for sim play? Anyway, the higher the better. I know it even from clicking. Something around 50-60 is where it starts to get smooth. But when I get 30-40 in some dense spaghetti lies I take it as a "natural amount" of ball uncontrollability before I turn settings down. 😁

Not long ago I had  around 30 fps on most courses with my old card because I prefer graphics over cracking smooth play. But with my new NVIDIA 2080 TI I can play almost every course with 60-90 fps. Your course looks absolutely fantastic and I can't wait to play it. But take your time to complete this gem. You and your designer buddies keep me playing this game even if PG2 will never see the light.

Keep up the good work. Thanks

To clarify, 40 is probably the lower limit for RTS play for me. It is starting to get “jerky”, but is still playable. This is based on my system, so it may be different for someone else.

Well - yeah - that would do it...  lol

Yes, if I see <40fps while testing I also start to get jerky. I don't know your system specs and I have only mine as an example. It's a 6700k (or was 6800?) and a 1080ti. Still not the worst and I think you will need something similar to max things out on this course.

You can see my system specs in my signature, i7-8600 cpu with a GTX1060 card.

Probably because on mobile forum signatures are hidden. But thanks for writing your specs.
Would be very interesting to have a trustful comparison regarding game performance between your specs and mine. It's a nice example because you have a more up to date processor but little weaker gpu than I have. Not that I really want to update my hardware but it would be interesting to know the performance gain or if there was any significant if I had your CPU or if you my had my gpu.

I will be happy to give you any playability and comparison feedback whenever you are ready to make a beta available. Also note since you are not able to see my signature, I made a typo error  in my previous post. My cpu is actually an 8700, not 8600.

You are also running 4k too, I think most 1060 cards are likely running 1080p. Likely 1070 min for 4k

And I have to say last night I turned resolution down to 2kxx again, I don't know exactly. The first step under 4k which matches my screen size. It boosts fps up about 30 and it still looks nice especially when adding some reshade sharpening. But the best thing is I can also add my hungry particle mist again which I have to say glues everything together in such a nice way. It even makes the distant billboard trees believable. And by changing color and density you can create really different scenarios and atmosphere. I think it's essential. Normally I hate to turn resolution down but I definitely will keep it this way now when playing because it's also very smooth on the meter. Will post some screens tonight with fps.

Sorry for the delay.
I must say when I saw the course one night later I wasn't sure anymore if I really prefer the misty visuals but with the slight downside of the lowered resolution.

Birdie,

Glad to see you still whittling away.

I'm confused on last image. Standing in shadow of tree but Harry's back and face are lit quite brightly. Two directional lights?

Are you running a bloom as well? I like it. Just curious.

DP, just one directional light but yes, there is quite some reshade stuff applied. Also different settings in the first screens. And again that's sweets potting. Still not great from every point of view. It's really sad we are not able to use the traditional post processing stack.
