Wait a minute Jay.  If you have a putt under 2 feet and you have Gimmes set at 2 then the Gimme button lights. If you hit the Gimme button then the game takes the putt for you and that counts as a stroke. If you don't hit the Gimme button and hit the Continue the game makes you physically take the putt and counts as a stroke. Same result.

Exactly. Here's a shot by shot breakdown ( not too good at explaining things as you can tell, lol). Par 5 hole -- Tee shot into rough. 2nd shot in fairway leaving a 95yd approach. Hit 3rd shot to 10 ft from pin. Now, I'm putting for birdie. I putt, miss to the side and am 4" from cup. I've hit 4 times (3 shots, one putt). Now, instead of putting from 4", I just click the gimme button and immediately I'm on next Tee box, and scorecard shows a 6 for me, not a 5. Here is the link where an admin just replied earlier that it would be fixed on next update.

I believe this bug only happens if auto-gimme is selected.

I hope the banner passes the censors

This tournament is open to everyone and all levels of assists/aids. Simply post your score for the round or rounds to this thread.

I encourage you to play as many rounds as you like before the first round and between subsequent rounds. You don't have to submit a score until you are happy with the result. You have two weeks to complete the tournament so take as long as you like to submit a round.

Why allow for the best rounds and not just a single try?  The players with more time to attempt the best scores have a huge advantage.

I know this is all for fun, but I think it might be worth it to get more specific with the rules.  I'd be down for a tourney with MS Min/Min settings and one try per round scores.

Anyone else interested?

I would give it a try. I can barely play using every aid available. My 2 scores are what I shot. I don't restart or play over and over either. To me, it's not a reflection of my true scoring/play. But, this is all in fun, and to each their own. I appreciate Ted setting this up. I'm enjoying PG a little too much lately, lol. Excellent game. Bugs and all, it's the BEST.

Teddy....first of all, thank you for running these tournaments.  I'm sure it's a lot of work to compile the scoreboard, etc.  They are a lot of fun (and nerve-wracking).  I'm a 3Clicker using Max Aids.  My 1st round was a 66 (-6).  I left several birdies out on the course due to my failure to make relatively short putts.  The fast greens and hardness affect my putting the most.  Again, thanks for hosting these Tments.

-2 MS, Min assist. That was very tough....when it's firm like that you have to be so accurate of the tee.

Round 1 (Min Min Motion Swing + BLI)

75 (37 out and 38 back)  had quite a few putts that skimed over the hole which I presume is due to too much pace plus a lack of suitable animation to visualise it nicely so no complaints.  Otherwise a nice solid start which is in stark contrast to my Florida Glades debacle where I was only spared the ignominy of finishing last by Ian (thanks Ian!)

I thought I'd take the approach of submitting the first round I play rather than trimming out my poor ones so although my start has been solid, I expect it to go rapidly downhill from here :)

Thanks Teddy

Back on 3c max/max, 1st round/try was 70/-2

Most of my second shots didn't snap at 6 o'clock, so i must be happy with this score.

2nd round of 33-37=70 -2 Mod / Mod BLI MS.  Was a fight on backside as made 3 bog and 2 Bird and was just struggling after easy front side.  Still one of my better rounds and will take it.  Game is so much smoother since the update and love how the ball is better on the greens right now.  Will play rounds 3 and 4 next week and give this course a break for the rest of the week.  I for one am shooting one round and going with it as personally I find it harder if I just keep trying to get a better score and this to me just makes me concentrate better knowing what I shoot s what I post but that's just me.

Round 2 was easier but I hit a couple of stupid miss hits where I slowed my swing down (probably trying too hard to hit the perfect power) so I ended up the same as previous round 70 (-2) Grade A MS.

I'd like to address the issue of single try rounds and even restart rounds.

Here is the ideal scenario for a pure competition using Perfect Golf in its current form. Forty players at a LAN in a big warehouse with scrutineers in matching black shirts pacing up and down the aisles. Everyone starts their rounds at the same time and scores are scrutineered, screenshots taken, leaderboards updated and then it starts all over again for the next round. Every player has all assists/aids turned off. The blackshirts are given a directive to physically remove any player who ignores that rule. Unfortunately that tournament is not going to happen.

It is simply impossible to police tougher rules without relying on the absolute honesty of each player. In that case - why bother. Its sort of like Ted Mack's bins in North Sydney. Forget about the problem and it goes away.

Look at it this way. If you asked a bunch of Pros to turn up at a Major and play their rounds without practice and without knowledge of the course there would be a revolt and only Monty would play. And to say that players with more time to attempt their best scores have a huge advantage is like saying Rory shouldn't be practicing so much or working out in the gym all the time because he will get an advantage. I really hope the scoring DOES reflect how much time and effort a player has put in. In my case I play most of my rounds as practice. I use some rounds to sort out my bag and a few to try some adventurous shots for scoring opportunities. Then its a case of fine tuning my game to give me an idea of what I should be scoring and finally I get the confidence to go out and shoot around par. That's when I make the decision to start my tournament round. Between rounds its the same. Its practice - and I think if you don't do that you are putting YOURSELF at a disadvantage.

By all means run a tournament with single try rounds but shouldn't you also be stipulating Off/Off aids? I can tell you that you won't get many starters and many of those who do start will give up half-way through.

One of the main motivations for me to run these things was to see what sort of scoring was achievable and how low some guys could go. I think that successfully showed that PG is on the right track. I also wanted some form of incentive to get me out on the course. The motivation wasn't to make people do something they didn't want to do.

I understand what people are saying and I've given this a lot of thought. It was clear after the first tournament I initiated that there was a way to run these things to keep the majority happy.

Have fun!

Ted.......I like the idea that we have all swing types and to be honest I really don't play this right now to win but just to get better. I only am playing one round for each round for a selfish reason as I like to take my Greensboro four and play practice competition against each other every day. It gives me about 280 plus blows per round of practice and it's helping me. I was at Min aids but am having more fun at Mod and will stay there for awhile till I am ready to go back to min due to this game has a steep learning curve. For the record I won't ever go to no aids as I play for enjoyment not work and don't need the ego boost. When I play online I don't ask if you are max or no aid just thankfull you joined me to play. What I am most excited about is how many people are playing and all the different swing levels we have. So for me this is great that you are running this event and I wouldn't change a thing.
