I did a couple of test with some of my old APCD .tga files and it worked with no problem, even swayed in the wind and some images weren't even square. :D

Nice grass there bud.

Quick Q Adriaan. Do you think you might try and recreate Nautilus Bay in CF once you've got the hang of it?

Q for those using the Unity grasses..?

How do you like the swaying / wind effects and have you experimented with them ?

Personally, I'm not really liking the initial effects. Everything moving together is far from realistic IMO. Wind where I stand isn't necessarily the same as 20yds away, so I'd like to see variations of groups of grasses etc.. almost like seeing the wind coming toward you via the grasses, like a mexican wave effect. I've certainly not dabbled in this area to know what's even remotely possible though.. just curious to hear what others think of the basic effects..?

Daz, I already did the importing and heightmap stuff. Atm I'm just messing around on a course with 4 to 5 holes but Nautilus Bay will be my 1st project... I think.

Ian, I hadn't given any thought to the grass wind effect other that to check if it works. I suppose there are settings to randomize it?

Hi K11,

As suggested in another post,

Take a couple of pills & call doctor Mike in the morning.

Or go for a walk & take deep breaths of fresh air.

As my old golf coach used to say "keep your head down and follow through".

All you guys are doing steller work for the C.F. community.

I personally feel that the need for everything moving is "forgive the pun" blown way out of proportion. I don't need to see grass at my feet swaying (because it never does) and I don't need to see trees flapping around unless I'm playing with windy conditions and even then it should be a very subtle movement. The only thing I ever see moving on a golf course on a breezy day is decorative wild grass and even that is very little.

Island green in a bunker...... kept me busy for a while.   Thought it was simple but it needs a lot of bunkerlip settings in the layers tab

How will players get on the green for their putts without disturbing the sand and crushing the lip while trying to negotiate the steep incline? And having to rake out their own footprints behind them both on the way in and out?

Oh, I know: Jetpacks!

When I first saw this pic I thought that it was a fairway landing area surrounded by sand.  This could be an interesting risk/reward feature for a golf hole.  Shoot for the target and cut yardage off the hole, for example.  Miss the target and create a recovery shot from the sand.

I see that HighFade added a bridge, but you could also distress the sand (add some vegetation and rocks) surrounding the green and designate it as a waste area.

Great to see the progress being made and the designer's imaginations being exercised. :)

I think the snow is starting to let up!

So... what happens if the shot hits the bridge and/or lands underneath....?

Nice looking... but I wonder if a simple path would have sufficed... > killjoy alert lol..

Maybe some stepping stones and a little vegetation.

Looking good Adriaan

I think Adriaan has just put that bridge in as a quick placeholder, in response to the Q? in this thread about crossing the sand.

I doubt it would be a 'keeper', as it doesn't even seem to be to scale.

Right, this is not part of any course, just a test for CF to see how to do and area enclosed by bunker.

As a bunker is automatically dropped into the terrain, the island's bunker lip settings have to be the inverse of the normal bunker lip settings.

Meanwhile, back at the farm...

Still up to my neck in grassy stuff. This is nowhere near the finished look, but it stops looking too "sucky" for me to publish.
