Looks great, but I'd love to see it with some more weathered, accurate textures. Can you add your own, or are you limited to ones supplied with the program?

I am pretty much limited with the textures supplied with Sketch-up at the moment. you could probably make your own in Photoshop, if you have the know how and the patience. I haven't done allot with Photoshop yet, so I am just working with what is supplied.
I have had to learn too many other programs first to get ready for CF, like 3ds max design and mesh-lab to be able to import a terrain mesh I was happy with, since there is no Terrain importer yet, Sketch-up and Unity.
As far as terrain textures, I did download and try to edit a few textures for the fairways greens and rough. But that's about it.

Gday all. I have been on holidays and staying at the inlaws for the last couple of weeks. When its been quiet, I have been learning Sketchup in readiness for CF. I thought a good building to start on is the clubhouse I created for my links course Crooked Creek. This is where it is up to at present. Still lots to do, including the roof, which will test the skills. I have done a test import into Unity and all went well, but I just wish we could get Unity to render the buildings like this

Hi WayneH, I am curious as to what type of rendering problems your running in to. Seeing some pictures would be good. I'm not sure if I could help you any, but I'd try. I'm pretty new to this myself.
My latest project in Sketchup is the Samoset Clubhouse. I didn't have any pictures of it, Just the Google aerial view, so i am winging it. It isn't finished yet, but I thought I would show a skp pic and then a pic with it in unity.

Tim, not in APCD, that has been rendered from within Sketchup itself. It kind of looks like APCD as I made up a background from the course pano to put into the render.
Ill try and take a shot of it in Unity as well. It looks fine in Unity, just not as good as in a proper render, thats what I meant.
Thanks

Hey Jimbobh
What file format do you export it out of Google Sketchup and are those Sketchup's default tile graphics like the roof texture and rock face and siding? Also do you have to check off anything in the option area for exporting the model?
Thanks for any info

I am exporting as a FBX file. This way, all the textures are automatically assigned. The free version of Sketchup doesn't support FBX export, but, you can install Sketchup Pro, and it gives you 8 hours free. Design your project in the free version, then open it in Pro just long enough to export it as FBX, and then close it. That way the 8 hour Pro Free version will last awhile. Also in the export options, check the box "export two-sided faces" The textures are all Sketchup, Some are downloaded from their 3d warehouse, and all are FREE.
Wayne, try this plugin out. It might just make things a little easier. There is a Free Version. Just paste the downloaded .rbs file in your Sketchup Plugins folder.

Thanks Jim.
The roof on the clubhouse isn't exactly normal I doubt any instant roof plugin is going to be able to replicate it. I don't mind having to build it anyway, after all, its a learning opportunity.
But it will definately help when I go to build our house with it. Which will be the next project, as my wife is an Architect who has designed it. We are currently living in the first half of it, with the rest yet to be built, so she is putting the pressure on me to build it and render it out so she can see what the final version will look like lol.
Here is a shot of the clubhouse on Crooked Creek for those who have not seen it.

That is quite a unique roof. You could take a look at these tools. I'm not sure if they would help or not, since I have not tried them, But there are some curve tools here.

The amazing architecture on your Crooked Creek course is the most breathtaking thing I've seen in Links Mr. H...simply beautiful.

I'm still waiting in line, (for about 2 years now) but I am more interested in course forge than the game itself, at least for now. Just thought I would throw this video in here and get back to being a little more active in this forum again. It is nothing fancy like the others, but I am only working with Unity. I haven't added anything extra in this scene, Just a flyby and a cart animation, but I will be working on that.
Thanks for watching,
Jim
