Brutal Tournament but dang fun!  I'm still on round #3. I decided to open fraps and do a instant replay of this hole then take a break for a few minutes before resuming. This is a lucky shot "through the bushes"  I tell you. Tour Pro is fun but you cannot  have any distractions during your round.  Lock the door and put the dog in the trunk.  :D

Karen on hard surfaces in gusty conditions is definitely a nail biter of a round.  It's one of those where you're always glad it's over.

for the life of me, I can't find My Player on the leaderboard as I play the round or after the round. Is this a known issue?

If I'm not mistaken, I believe your player name in PG needs to match your Steam user name exactly or your round will not be recorded.

Karen was such a dissapointment to me. Beautiful, but such an ass backwards layout. The longer the hole the thinner the fairway and more undulating. It's got a major personality complex. It can't decide if it wants to be a links course or American target style course. And most of the time the wrong choice is made in that aspect.

It doesn't help that the OGT tourney decided to play windy hard and difficult pins. Felt like I was playing putt putt.

I've felt that way at times too. But you have to take what this course gives you. The path to the green calls for conservative play but once you get there you've got solid birdie opportunities galore! The greens are super flat in most spots as long as you can get to within 20 feet of the hole.

I think it just begs you to get impatient with it but if you can force yourself to tee of with a 5 wood on a 450 yard par 4 then I think you'll be rewarded more than you'd expect.

I have an issue with the fifth hole, where the out of bounds is about 2 yards from the outside dogleg where the safe play should be. I'm seeing OB close to the fairway on other user designed courses (17th at Schwartzwald comes to mind); I'm just not sure really keen on it as a design strategy. Certainly I wouldn't want to play that way on a real course.

Hehe... you guys did perhaps not expect a golf course to fight back? The safe play on Karen (as mentioned by others), is a 3W or 1H off the tee. And for second shots it's the heart of the green. And if you're in trouble off the tee, sometimes is better to take you medicine and play for a safe bogie/improbable par rather than scrambling recklessly and ending up with a double bogie or worse.

Sound familiar? Hm, that's a bit  how I remember my real life golf adventures... I'm sure that once you've learned a bit more about the place, decision-making and staying out of trouble will become easier.

Something had to be done about all those wonderful champions who think they are entitled to 300+ yard off the tee all the time. It's up to you to rise to the challenge or blame the design. And yes, sometimes there is no room for error and only a clean, straight shot stands between you and disaster. That, too, can happen out there sometimes

Thank you so much to all who do not like it. To me, my apologies for that, this means validation - it means that what I tried to create in fact is working out as intended. Karen has taken you out of your computer golf comfort zone. I stand by this layout.

Thank you so much to all who do not like it. To me, my apologies for that, this means validation - Karen has taken you out of your computer golf comfort zone. Because of that I stand by my layout.

The layout of the course is fine - you managed to create some beautiful holes again. I like all Par 3s very much and the first Par 5 is a beauty. What i didn't like were the difficult pin positions. You often are using elevated green which is fine. But if you have a steep uphill slope in front of the green and the pin tugged right behind it even a perfect shot cannot get you close. We often have to come in with 5 or 4 iron into the greens, so there is absolute no chance to get the ball close (maybe by pure luck if you aim at the upward slope and try to bounce it up).

This is of course pronounced under hard course conditions. It is absolutely okay to challenge the players, but a perfect golf shot should be rewarded on every course layout. On some holes with some pins that simply is not the case. If it were me, i would flatten out some holes around the green (the most beautiful hole on the course, the last Par 3 is a perfect example - i ran a 1 iron into the green every round). So we could run up the shots. That would put another strategy level into playing the course.

P.S.: The atmosphere on the course is the best i've ever seen in Perfect Golf. So you really have a talent to create wonderful views. But the playability of some holes (under all course conditions) for me sometimes could be a little bit better.

I really enjoy the course and it certainly makes you think about your shots.

My only criticism, and it is one for PG not specifically for Karen, is that in real life you would have a look at your yardage book and clearly see OOB marked, and then you woud plan your shot accordingly.  Sometimes in PG you can hit a shot and then get a shock at being OOB. That shouldn't happen in my opinion.

Could be solved with some clear marking on the overheads.

Anyway, great tournament especially as I'm leading :)

In K11's defence, I don't think the conditions selected by event organizers can be laid at his door.... gusty/windy, firm conditions and fast greens all have their place, but the combination of all together on a course which rightly does have some very challenging landing spots and green complexes won't always work. The course itself is a great challenge in any combination of conditions and K11 has given the community a great asset on which to base its gameplay.

I think Karen is a great course, but she can bite you in the a** real quick if you're not careful. My last round I was at two under after the first six or seven holes, the all of a sudden I had a snowman on my card! As I was walking off the green I could picture K11 somewhere wringing his hands together and laughing an evil laugh ;)

I've really enjoyed Karen (sounds a bit funny).  I think in hard and gusty/windy conditions she plays like a US or British Open course.  In normal conditions there are plenty of scoring opportunities.

But no matter what the conditions... I've had horrific rounds there and I've had brilliant rounds there.  The only difference between the two is that I got greedy when I shouldn't have and then I tried to make a miraculous comeback after a bad shot.  You can't do that on this course.
