I got caught trying to be too brave/cocky during the 3rd round...was below par after 8 holes and ended up hitting the water twice on the next couple of holes. Thought..the heck with it...went for it on hole 16...and ALMOST got a hole-in-one!  I was THIS close to jumping up in the air, probably destroying my chair when landing again...

I caught it on video:  https://www.youtube....h?v=QsPWkQuWVMQ

Awesome shot.

I started playing this game at Tour Pro.  I was progressing until Karen (by the way my ex-wife's name).  I found it just as difficult as she was.  Enjoyed the challenge but was as frustrating as our 20 years of marriage.  Thought the designer might enjoy the comparison.

I do. Always interesting how something I do triggers all sorts of unexpected connections in others. Methinks we all tend to project a part of ourselves into everything that comes our way...

I hope that one day you will make your peace with both Karens.

Your description couldn't be further from my own personal experience of the course. I can see opinions are very polarised on this course people will either love it or hate it. Set up on a hard surface with a gale blowing on a 14 stimp you'll seldom get a tougher challenge than this. The par 3 4th hole is a personal favourite with that pin tucked up on the back right of the green punching an iron 20-30yds short to let the slope run that ball down to the hole...delightful. Its a joy to play the game this way rather than target golf in soft calm slow green conditions.

Yeah the links character should be pronounced though. Elevated greens with steep fairways uphill in front of the greens and tugged pins directly behind are making some holes gimmicky. Flatten out the entrances of the greens work on some pin positions and this course would be a real winner. Right now i cannot imagine it being really playable under hard conditions, fast greens and strong winds.

Maybe some find them gimmicky but its maybe replicating the local course I play every weekend and given i live between turnberry and royal troon a lot of the courses locally play like karen does...perhaps thats what makes it so enjoyable for me. Sometimes you can't just target the pin and you have to play the percentage shot and accept there's little birdie opportunity at times on some holes depending on the pin placement and conditions. I understand what you mean though so I'm in no way being critical of what you are saying.

Is there a problem with leader boards on this tourney  it has players on weird scores an example is Gemini ( please excuse me for using you m8 no harm intended) the scores show 72 - 65  - +30 - E with a total of -4, this is just one example there are lots more weird scores.

Karen is a tough test, it requires good course management and patience, i just played rounds 2,3 and 4 straight off and I lost patience on round 4, so you can add discipline to that list lol. Good thinking players course.

Biffa, I've noticed that too.  I sort of thought it was a round in progress, where +30 would be 30 strokes so far in the 3rd round (since 30-over in the 3rd round wouldn't make for most players, except me and a handful of others).  I have no idea if that is correct or not, nor do I know if this changes as you would expect for a round in progress.

The +30 references how many shots that player has taken so far in total on an uncompleted round. It should not have the + in front of it.

It isn't bad that 30 is somehow distinguished from 72 and 65 in this instance; people will think he shot 30 in the 3rd round!

It would be best if it could just display which hole the player is currently at, like:  72  65  (H8)  E
