It seems like a lot of courses - in this game - look all too similar, due to an apparent lack of color variety... or color correctness.

 

Yeah they do look similar...I'm thinking it's the lack of variety in flora as well as colour range, areas that the revered Links still has an advantage in.  Hopefully tree libraries and the colour spectrum will expand over time.

I've greened things up a bit. Might do the same for Winged Foot and Merion. I'll post some shots soon to get everyone's opinion.

I am also waiting with great expectation your re-creation of Augusta and am amazed at how quickly you work.  Also wondering if we will see the greened up versions of both Winged Foot and Merion East before the release of Augusta?  Thank you for all your efforts.

I think Xanxax Minor will be up your street then. Nothing similar about that one. Show and tell thread will enlighten you.

 

At the end of the day, it is all down to the designer how much he wants to 'play' with the colours and textures, as K11 is proving. Unlike in TGC where their courses texture colours are set by the theme used, so every Borial theme designed course will look the same.

This is no longer the case. The texture colors can now be changed to a variety of different color shades for all the course themes in TGC. However, there are no pink or purple colors available. ;(

Guilty as charged on the color thing. I'm making an effort to introduce more custom textures and use the stock ones much less; I think that will help a lot.

 

I'm also very slowly trying to learn speedtree.

Regarding the colours of textures, I have played one of my courses now at many different times of the day and the colours of all the textures changes greatly depending on the time/angle of the sun.
I created and tested Heritage Coast Golf Club with the sun at its highest but have recently played it either early in the morning or early evening and the difference in texture colour is very marked and very pleasing.

Me too!  I'm especially interested to see the updated color pallet being used.

Amazed how good this mod course is, didn't expect such quality from mods. Colours seem spot on.
