Man, I'm so looking forward to the rest of what you put out. I agree that Winged Foot could be greened up a bit in some areas but holy mother of God... What a recreation you've done!I've greened things up a bit. Might do the same for Winged Foot and Merion. I'll post some shots soon to get everyone's opinion.
Thanks for the feedback
Keep em coming!

VWill the course be called Augusta National in the PG version or will you be using a creative alternative name for the final course?
Not if it's not licensed.......perhaps Georgia Pines GC until that happens.

I'm not releasing it commercially however so I will be releasing as Augusta and risk the cease and desist...
Is it really worth it?
Why not just not draw the negative attention with a generic name?

The man is a traditionalist, I respect his view.

I guess I'm just hoping to not start drawing the legal eyes on all the PG "real courses" is all.

Never seemed to be an issue with links 2003 3rd party courses and that had a big following.
Fair enough. Was simply bringing it up is all.

Can't imagine how there can be any problems with users creating courses and naming them whatever they wish. Particularly when they aren't receiving profits or even housing their courses on PP's official website.

I'm not sure that's how that works is it?
Does the profit part have any relevance if a party has rights to a particular trademark?
If it doesn't matter, I'm sort of surprised that user "Mike Jones" hasn't created and released Sawgrass and/or others, apart from the normal PG install. Maybe he will?

Completely two different things. If PP is doing the creating then yes there's a problem. All PP is doing is supplying a course designer. What the general public chooses to do with it is their business. As I said, user courses aren't even stored on PP's site.

That's sort of why I said "apart from the PG install"...
Cleary PP can't bundle a real course in without licensing..

In any case - It sounds like many are knowledgeable on this, certainly more than I am...
So! Very excited to play the real courses w/ real names! (or with fake names... I truly don't care)

Augusta National is coming along at quite a rate:Hole 1 Tea OliveHole 6 JuniperHole 7 PampasHole 10 CamelliaWork on Amen Corner begun todayApparently this hole is famousShould have this ready for testing in a few weeks at the current paceCheersScott
Looking good.
I've doubted the ability for the current tools to present courses like Augusta within their proper color tones.
It seems like a lot of courses - in this game - look all too similar, due to an apparent lack of color variety... or color correctness.
But, I have to say... that, in this particular case, it already appears to contain a lot more of the deep green colors necessary to this task, than the rest of the courses. -- Which is an earnest start.
As for the layout... it looks to be spot on.

He's obviously using texture sets he has already created from other designs, which can easily be changed as the course development continues.

Yep, just like Tiger Woods on PC. You never saw people having to rename user designed real courses.
