sorry 100% disagree why would you want to remove what makes the game great, all these pads do is turn PG into TGC ( a straight shooting contest ) and we don't want that...you keep quoting the taylor made thing but the difference is much greater than that..much greater, if you take these pads on tour and manage a win then its just a hollow victory, nothing else.
As much as I hate to agree with you on this due to all those nasty comments you made to me I have to agree with you. It's not just getting the best equipment it's about competition and fun and hitting it down the middle all day long is not fun nor competitive. The problem is just because a few of us put that controller down doesn't mean all will and not everybody has an Xbox 360 or can afford to go out and buy one whenever they want. The solution is within the game and I really believe timing and ratio for controller will do that. In real golf when you buy the best equipment you still have to swing the club and it is nowhere near as easy as playing with a controller in a video game.

Adding a RTS-M type tempo control to the RTS-C would totally ruin it and make it nearly unplayable. Just wouldn't work with the small degree of movement you have with a thumbstick. Not to mention voiding the ability to shape your shots using the stick. Partial shots, and putting would be a mess, so this is not the answer to cure all. Plus I would hate not having a game I enjoy playing, and probably would not go over very big on the consoles.
If anything it would promote the use of 3rd party controllers even more.

c'mon man they were not nasty really, just sticking to my guns regarding this issue, i think i said before that i believed you were not trying to cheat, and i still maintain that now. You advertised the fact that you have a logitech and speedlink, which says to me that you were none the wiser about these pads, it's the ones that keep quiet and still use them on tour that will give the method bad name.

spot on, the only thing i would say is that no cure is needed for the controller swing with the official pad, i will say to anyone go plug an xbox pad in, go to pro or tour pro and tell me its easy. The swing mechanic was created with xbox pad in mind, all the little L and R nuances that register the slightest off centre hit are primed for this pad, get it wrong and you get punished, its such a granular pad compared to any other i have used and def the best experience.

I don't have a 360 controller to compare, but I believe they also calibrated the DS4 as it is recognized by the game and plays as you described.

Yes a quality pad like the DS4 does play similar, the more granular the pad the more expensive and better quality they tend to be, and thats what its all about. A proper quality game pad will give you the best experience even though it won't be easy, its not a pick up and play experience on higher difficulties, you have to spend time on the range finding that groove. With that i think i have said more than enough about this issue and will contribute no further...now i have to go and groove my swing because its crap this morning!

It was pun intended. I am going to sit back and practice with the stock controller and see how it goes even if I have to move back to Am level for a while but I will play the PGA Pro at MS. Again tho I have pulled the plug on the two controllers but I don't think everybody will and that is concerning.

Didn't know that but now I do. What about a detection in the game that only recognizes certified controllers to keep it even?

That's something you'll need to bring up with the devs. It wasn't discussed in the tester forum, we were just busy trying to test stuff as it came out trying to find stuff that would break the game. I had never actually heard of the speed link until it was brought up in this thread.

The Speed Link was talked about in other threads and a lot of people were using it so I bought one on EBay and it came from Germany. It got great reviews and didn't see any red flags so I didn't think anything of it. My guess is that there are quite a few of them and it's not perfect but the easiest controller out there to hit a straight shot. Price for the wireless one I got was About $40.

I had a wired speedlink when i first started playing The golf club, it was the only pad i had and i initially bought it to play a formula 1 game, when i played TGC i never once hit anything but straight lines, i was convinced i was a genius, it was only when i myself was branded a cheat for using it did i find what it all meant compared to an xbox pad, so i went out and purchased an xbox wireless pad with reciever, turns out i can still hit near enough straight in TGC anyway lol, then again most people can with that game..it's terrible, and i would hate for PG to go down that road, we should all be against these 3rd party pads for the good of the game.

No worries. I had an Xbox, so I had an Xbox controller that worked with Windows when I plugged it in, so I've never done any research on anything else just because I didn't need to ![]()

Crow I have an Xbox 360 wireless controller with my 360 system wouldn't I need a wireless network adapter to use that one on my PC. I prefer wireless as I can then use on my big screen and sit back away.

Well its a tale of woes for me with the xbox pad over at Tour pro players today, plenty of wild hits and even my putting went off the boil.... -1 in round one then had a putt for bird on the last in round 2, left it on the lip, i then went to replay to watch the putt and clicked rehit instead of replay lol...so instead of another -1 i finished +1 evs after, 2 rounds...need a miracle to make the top 10 there now. What a contrast to the RTS pro version.

Most third party Xinput controllers are probably going to detect the controller as a 360, which would be the problem. So I don't know if there is any way they could distinguish between them. If they could I suppose they could create a profile that would be properly calibrated for it. Controllers using the Dinput protocol seen to have a unique ID of their own.
