I passed this game up many of times due to steam reviews, I recently purchased it and after 50+ hrs I love the game, sure it has minor bugs and is taxing on the system and there isn't a so called campaign mode. However closest game to Links I have played yet. I put a review on steam and all i got was dislikes and even a few emails asking if i was being serious... I've read through most of the steam reviews and see that a majority of the reviews have less then 30 minutes played. Not sure how you can accurately review a game in that time frame. And there all are negative. Anyone know why that is? Is this game under attack from other publishers? Just doesn't seem like it's getting a fair chance and the steam reviews does not do it justice at all. I personally would like to see more people join up and play however im worried all these junk reviews will prevent many new players from buying the game like it did me for over a year.

Nirbrush, I can tell you exactly what is going on. The reviews are coming from the crowd used to the current stable of junk golf games out there with their dial a distance and spin shots and instant birdies. Those people are children and gamers and not golfers and are looking to birdie their first hole ever played and move on if they do not.
It really is a shame not many are looking for a golf game with a significant learning curve and where par is a good hard score to achieve on even easy golf holes.
I hope there are enough adults and hard core golf addicts such as myself looking to buy this game. It really is the best game out there presently, especially at the higher and harder levels of difficulty.

There are always going to be biased reviews... on both sides.
I think a lot of the mindless bashing is coming from "The Golf Club" fandom.
That said, if you sift through several reviews, and look at the objective ones... you can find the information that you seek.
Everyone has a different tolerance to the quality control of a game.
Most of the guys still playing the game have a pretty good tolerance... and just want to play golf.
I have continued to play this game, despite its recurring issues... solely because I prefer to play turn based multiplayer golf, which just so happens to be a rarity, anymore.
But, I don't pull any punches in my review. I state all of the issues as they are; because, people deserve to know.
If someone chooses to play the game for their own reasons, like we do... that has nothing to do with the veracity of a review.
But again, it's pretty easy to spot and sift through both the mindless hatred, as well as, the borderline shill reviews.
The reviews that state no objective facts about actual game encounters - and are either complimentary to a fault, or hateful to a fault - are the ones to skip.

IMO, none of the negative steam reviews of any game can be taken seriously because steam is just a cesspool of human debris. Case in point: No Man's Sky. It's a brilliant, very fun "Oh look, what's over that hill" kind of game and the denizens pan it because there's no pvp, you can't blow yourself up, this game won't run in 5000x2000 resolution, and "It sucks because my Daddy won't stop playing!"
I don't read them anymore for any game.

You make it seem like the type of customer that wants a more arcade golf game is somehow a bad person, that just cannot be worthy of playing a video golf game.
That kind of stance is just as ridiculous as some of the mindless hatred towards the game.

Straying off topic a bit but... I've been curious of No Man's Sky. Are you enjoying it? Think it's worth a purchase?

Well one thing PG players can do is go to the Steam review page and do an HONEST review ourselves. Too bad PG doesn't have a guest mode or similar where they can go out and play a few rounds, maybe with a member, etc to get the feel of it. Maybe advertise that one can get a Blackbeard pass for a month before purchase. Anyway I'll look for the url of where the Steam reviews are unless someone beats me to it.
Try this one lol: http://store.steampo...pp/288140/ http://store.steampowered.com/reviews/

Funnily enough I used that title to respond to one of the more unfair (IMO) reviews of JNPG. The PC port of NMS is apparently highly questionable, and their devs at least have Sony to take care of marketing.
That said, it has been years. My suspicion is that the number of PP personnel working on the game is now quite small.

I put up an honest and positive review of PG the other day... The last time I looked, my review said "0 of 3 find this review helpful" and one listed the review as "funny".
Went to Digital Storm and ordered me up a nice gaming machine
Intel i3 chip at 3.9G
16 gig DDR4 RAM
GeForce 970 GTX 4gig vid card
240G SSD
1TB HD
Windows 10
It's HERE!! JNPG runs great with all the bells and whistles at max or close to it... I still turn 3D render off for the swing, tho.

if i want to know about a game, i certainly WONT look at the steamreviews.
there are usually more usable revies at the gamesites, altho even those can be very silly.
i do not see many unbiased reviews.
but this shows a demo could be very helpfull, and no i dont consider the blackbeards a demo.
i always have more trust in devs that take the trouble to release a demo, thats what i call consumerservice.

Perhaps if everyone on this forum went through and voted the reviews helpful or unhelpful it would adjust those displayed to give a more balanced and accurate impression of the game?
