Question: That course converter looks like a separate app. So...will that be a Windows only thing or will Mac users like me also be able to work with it?

Good grief, this looks fantastic. As a completely incompetent APCD user, this looks remarkably easy. I can't wait to get my hands on it and give it a whirl. Great work!

Very close, I finished the bilinear algorithm this morning that ensures the output is a 2048x2048 grid which is the best grid for working with golf course terrains. IT works perfectly.

I dont speak MAC or IOS so I would have no idea how to program this to work for a MAC. If someone out there knows how to do it for a mac let me know. Otherwise just ask us to run one for you and we can post the Heightmap and Image

Thought so... For a brief moment I had thought this was integrated into Unity, but it became quickly evident that this couldn't be.
But thanks a lot for the offer, AJ. I do appreciate your kind consideration.
Maybe posting geodata could make a good course design competition for everybody: You publish a very tricky square of land for downloading and all the course designers/CF testers get a week to turn it into a golf course... would be interesting to see how the different approaches and results turn out.

Andrew, I noticed the option to import crz files into unity. I hope the process will clean up the mesh as well. My courses had some pretty messy mesh.

Do Bing maps also cover the UK? There are so many local courses I would love to attempt, but height information is not really available.

Bing maps do cover the UK. I have been looking at courses close to Manchester. I presume that the CourseForge will enable us to download areas from the UK, the same as the demo video shows Andrew downloading part of the Grand Canyon from the USA map. Maybe some clarification from the design team is needed on this point, especially with regard to the height data resolutions available for UK courses.

Yes they do, although from reading a different post there s some doubt as to what level of detail the elevations are. US are 10metres, a web page I found also showing a Grand Canyon import into Unity stated 900m detail for the poles (if anyone is thinking of an ice based course???) and 90metres for non-US.

One article states.....
Currently elevation information is available with the following resolutions: Global Coverage (including poles): 900m resolution (Globe), Global Coverage (56⁰S to 60⁰N):90m resolution (SRTM).US coverage: 10m resolution (NED).
I presume the most of the UK falls in the Global Coverage (56⁰S to 60⁰N):90m banding, as the co-ordinates for lets say London are: 51° 30' N / 0° 7' W
It just looks like the elevation data might not be all that helpful in the long run though, with it being at 90m.

Yes it cleans it up into a square grid. 2048 x 2048
