Easy solution, just have one swing type, and that would be the controller RTS-C why, because PP could concentrate on making this swing great, as it is now we have too many swing types, everyone is arguing about the fairness of each swing, we keep going round in circles.

1. add tempo to RTS-C job done.

The handicap system based on performance only is one real solution.

Absolutely.  Just about the only PRACTICAL solution there is.  Worked reasonably well on just about every other Tour I played in Links.

Really? this game is going to console sometime this year, the console uses a controller, as it stands now the controller is the easiest swing type to hit straight shots, so we need the controller swing to work better, the console will make more money for PP then the PC will.

If dead axis gamepads are really that big of an issue...

Is there a movement that is impossible or very difficult to make on a dead axis pad?  Maybe a circular movement around the perimeter?  I don't know, I'm asking.

One solution would be to make that movement part of the preshot routine of the RTC swing.  The player must make this movement to "unlock" the animation/set up to the ball, and then they can access the club selection menu and conduct a swing normally.  A bit of an inconvenience, but it could be more effective than the system now.  Players would quickly become accustomed to it I think.  Might be worth a try if it can weed out the offending gamepads.

A more complex solution would be to add some sort of arc movement to the swing itself.

Tiger Woods had a diagonal swing path to hit it straight. Wouldn't that be a possibility? I would think that controllers with dead axis or low sensitivity would have problems swinging from 5 to 11 to hit it straight.

Only 4 people ever used it in TW people asked for it but when they got it they never used it?.

TEMPO is the answer for the controller.

If diagonal would be mandatory ... everybody would have to use it.

A tempo ratio comparable to the mouse swings isn't possible according to the devs.

give up on the most used swing method right now? 3 clk and MS?   you don't believe the devs can multi task? sounds like the path that EA went down by eliminating the PC version.

Ok we are gonna have a lot of low scoring on the console then.

I guess you never played with a controller on a console  ;) . just as in this game people always find away to get round it

I never liked the diagonal swing option in the TW 14 as it just did not seem natural to me.

Also, unfortunately, there are stick axis guides that can be attached and adjusted on the sticks quite easily. :(

I still believe that some kind of tempo ratio with a rhythm element to it is needed for the RTC swing. Here's a link to an article on tempo and rhythm in a golf swing:

http://www.golfdiges...im-flick-rhythm

Prostroke Golf World Tour 2007 had a nice feature that simulated the weight shift of a real golf swing by using the other stick in the swing. The swing camera used was a first person view and the swing had a horizontal movement of the sticks. If performed correctly, the use of the other stick in sync with the main swing stick would give you an increase in distance. If performed incorrectly, the distance of the shot would be decreased. It worked quite well and was an option and not mandatory.

Here's a short video of the gameplay in Prostroke Golf World Tour 2007:

Sounds interesting. Actually length should be an aftertought. Left right penalty would be more important.

I think the Realtime swing of JNPG is a thing of beauty. It has everything and is by far the most innovative and more dimensional swing mechanic in the game. You have to have a very good feel for rhythm, good hand-eye coordination and a very steady hand/arm motion.

It's a pity that it isn't more popular. Best swing mechanic ever made.

And that one swing type should be 3C (the one used by the majority of pc gamers)....mouse for PC and the controllers can have the consoles...simples ;)

I enjoy reading the controller threads even though I don't use them, but they do go round and round in circles some what. Some controllers are better at some things and have "get arounds" and others offer a more pure gameplay.  Use handicaps to base leaderboards on performance, so if there is a controller that aids straightness, they'll get lower scores and a much lower handicap, so no gain there in the nett leaderboard?

Those that don't care (it seems there are some out there), can carry on playing solo or online and not worry.

Ok, onto next issue...World peace? :)

Happy New Year everyone by the way!

people with a straight hitting controllers would "fake" the handicap system easily.
