quick decal just plops the .psd file onto the surface and saves your collection
the main work is photoshopping

I believe Highfade used the Quick Decals asset on his JNPG version of Nautilus Bay and even maybe on his other courses too.

I think I remember him adding that it can only be used on flat surfaces.

Quick decals on flats only is right. But, it is a superb effect on tees. Right now I'm using a cloned tee layer with divots on the texture to "paint" in some divots but because of the resolution loss, they look like healing divots. They are thrown in fairways, rough and around bunkers. I've also added a few 3D divots to the cause but if I can throw in a bit of the Dr. Rob Divot Love Potion (DRDLP), the effect would really be solid. (cue the NoPutt remark)

In game, just missing the nice detailed turf tracks of the Glen...

Rob,

Any chance you can show me a snap with LOW Camera ON?

My effect flattens out a bit with the wide angle of the low view. Maybe if I just make the divots a bit narrower. Also ends up a little odd if Harry's left foot falls right on one. My coloring is more toward a sand fill than dirt fill obviously.

now that looks really good. are you using decals?

after your happy with final result, combine the meshs as one, duplicate and move to other tee boxes

its ok if the golfers foot is on a divot,...as long as its not too obvious nobody notices....they are looking at the pin

some divots float to prevent z fighting.

only problem is that when harry swings, he leaves a darker divot,...thats why mine are browner because it matches up

take a screenie of harry taking a divot to get your color and size of divot and match up

Thanks for the advice Rob. I picked up Quick Decals 2. Not there yet for me. Gonna leave it out of my beta but maybe for the final.
