Looking very good IanK.. How are you getting the width to look so uniform?
I guess less control points helps a lot.
Thank you. You've got it Larry. Many fewer control points. It really is very easy and worth a try.

Well the one thing I like that ez roads does, is it smooths out the paths at the same time and laying them down by hand can create some really bumpy roads which will then require moocho hours of smoothing. However, it's gr8 that we are discussing this and trying to come up with a better system then one that can blow your course up with one false move. lol
Peace

Back to my original question. Is anything in the works that comes close to the user friendliness of this?
This is at least 11yrs old. This isn't perfect as you still will have to smooth out some sharp corners with cntrl points but as you see I can adjust the width and drop a 200yd long cart path in a few secs, then do some follow up. Not perfect but I hope we can get something a little closer to the ease of this, rather than manually doing it..
Out!!!

We use easy roads - works in a similar fashion with more options.

So where do "WE:" get that at? I would love to try that. Oh you mean the paid version right?

Sorry guy's if I wasn't quite happy with Mikes answer! I tried. I do like some of its features if only all the settings you have to go thru were preset, it would be gr8!
Does anyone know if you have to keep resetting things every time? Or are they PreSet, with the Paid Version? Might be worth 45 bucks?

I'm not convicted by Easy Roads either. I dislike the way that the road/path hovers over the terrain with no fringe blending it in with the terrain.
Would be nice if it laid right on the terrain but you can set the height to be like .09 or even less and it looks much better.

I've no idea how good/bad Easy Roads is and I don't design nowhere near enough to warrant buying it, but its currently got 25% off on Unity Asset Store if anyone was considering stumping up for Pro version.

Well wish me luck everyone because in order for my course to continue, I have to put down paths and ez roads is the best alternative as of now.
Daz, follow that video of MIkes I just put up but experiment with the height of the path. I think the .15 is a bit high and I do believe you can go lower.

L,
Just make sure you have your project fully backed up before doing the paths, then should the Easy Roads do a FUBAR, at least you won't have lost everything.

Be honest: So I count 13 steps I have to take to set up ez roads and 9 that I have to do every time I do a section. I hardly call that "simple".. Just sayen. Really would like PG to reconsider building a cart path tool for CF..
Ok Ok, so I have finally quit practicing and starting laying down paths on my real course. So far, once you get the system down, I have to admit, it's looking pretty damn good.
Still a lot to go thru but the results are very pleasing..
Once again, may have spoke to soon.
