this 9 hole thing is pretty cool no time at all to get through a round

i just posted one of Dazs 9 hole rounds. cool way to get to play with people you may never get a chance to

and see how they go about attacking the course.

I'll update the naming scheme document with something to reflect the 9 hole nature of the recording. (something like _B9 or _F9 added to the name).  Done.

Do you guys do Realistic or Bumpy greens or is that frowned upon in this group.

The recorded rounds I've uploaded so far were form 9 hole rounds played at PGLS, so I'm at the mercy of the tour with those rounds, and they are Perfect greens.

Mostly realistic, but if I start playing a course with a lot of pins sitting on severe slopes I start over with perfect.

I really love the idea behind realistic greens - random bumps.  I just don't like the current implementation of it. (not enough serpentine type putts from distance, and if I'm pretending to be a PGA pro I'd certainly tap-down any spike marks within [random 4 to 8 feet - hint, hint, this should be part of the physics model] of where I'm starting my putt from).

Daz - that's part of the fun with recorded rounds, some of the conditions and the final score are a surprise.

DoGgz - I see your 5 rounds in the "Drop Folder".  Before you upload, rename your files as follows (directions in the "read me first" doc):

prefix of HGH_ for a score of +5, or greater

prefix of MED_ for a score of +4 to -4

prefix of LOW_ for a score of -5, or lower

then after the course name, your handle - _DoGgz

*** What score catagory were you rounds in? ***

When you first log onto MEGA, there is a READ ME FIRST word doc, and a PG_Course_Directory spreadsheet.

The speadsheet mirrors the file structure set up on MEGA - courses sorted by geographic location.  Help youself to a copy.

I just created a new Tounament (log into MEGA; go to JNPG Tournaments folder).  Follow the instructions for the South African Open.

Enjoy!

just a idea you know when you are setting up a game you know the box

to upload to cloud. would be cool if we could get PP to make that button live and have it send the rounds to the mega site.

could help to get a lot more folks involved in playing recorded rounds.

just thinking out loud. i got my weekend play planned out just snagged a dozen rounds off the mega site to play.

I agree. The current implementation of realistic greens is not realistic, even if it achieves the same statistics as real putts. Also, the setting should affect all shots on the green - approach shots rolling on, chip shots etc. At the moment these shots still roll perfectly, while the putts across the same ground do not.

I can't miss putts on Perfect greens is all.  It's almost not any fun for me.  Besides, I didn't ask my question so as to start a new discussion on perfect greens in a non perfect green thread.  :)

Crow - its all good.  The question was straight forward.

My answer, and thoughts on realistic putting, were just part of the where/ when/ why I personally use it.  No extra discussion is needed (unless someone wants to start a thread about the actual physics [equations] that are being modeled).
