I totally agree with your assessment of that course. Yikes!
Most of the courses featured in that Society’s tournaments are of much better quality.

You can “walk the putt” by clicking on the y button and then using the right and left sticks on your Xbox controller. Make sure you have the scout camera set to on. If you don’t want to use the scout camera to setup your tee to green shots set the scout camera preset to green instead of landing area.I have also turned off the grids (naturally) and the caddy so I can select the club myself. I can't use a grid. I don't care how bad my putting is I simply cannot use a grid. It's tough not being able to walk the putt and get low but having a ghost helps a bit.

Cheating on PG with TGC 2 is like dating Scarlett johansson and boning Rosie O'donnel
As per your advice , I ditched Rosie today and gave Scarlett a call ... she was suprisingly smoothtalking ... I said to her "I learned a lot from hanging out with Rosie , and ...... " & Scarlet reply " SCHHH ... Its ok babe... just dont you ever do that again ... "

The TGC2 forum members are waiting with bated breath for the “Big Announcement” from HBS while expressing wild speculation of everything from ties cut with MG to a buyout from MS.

It was Bazyawn Canyon J.
I just can't cope with the crooked left arm of the avatar. That is unforgiveable - I'm sorry. It also looks cartoony. At least it hasn't got the stumpy legs of TGC1. Sure, Harry the Jackass is a shocker and considering it is the second iteration of an avatar at PG it is still less than Perfect. Why can't they get something decent for something so important. But I agree with JCat that the TGC animation is more fluid and nicely linked to the animation. It feels good without that awful PG delay at the top.I used keyboard/mouse at first but used the Xbox controller for my next round. I also turned off the swing rating thing which seemed to make it much more natural for some reason. I started with a bad slice but slowly worked it back to straightish.I have also turned off the grids (naturally) and the caddy so I can select the club myself. I can't use a grid. I don't care how bad my putting is I simply cannot use a grid. It's tough not being able to walk the putt and get low but having a ghost helps a bit. The putting animation is a bit unrealistic in terms of length of backswing. Something I will have to get used to.The lighting is now worrying but it seems to be the harsh contrast that is causing the problem. My initial assessment was on the practice range so it looked OK at first.I played the latest round at Brookdale which was an authentic rendition of a real course I imagine. So much better. I'll play the courses you guys advise in future.I played 9 holes and enjoyed it. Maybe it was the novelty and that start of the learning curve which encourages play but all in all it is sort of OK. Having the ghost (with a score I can compete against) was a plus. Not being able to read the green like PG was a big minus. Nevertheless I've played more holes in a day than PG in a month.
Bazyawn Canyon? Thanks Ted, but I haven't played it. I was playing another course called something like Twany GC, or something like that, in the Pro/Am Official Society tournament this Friday and Saturday, which I found to be a very pleasant surprise. It's like a low country golf course set right next to an impressively built city. The second hold has the most incredible fencework I've ever seen in a computer golf game course
I thought the course played fairly well, even though it has a couple of par fives that make you hit a 5 to 3 wood off the tee, depending on what the wind is doing.
May I suggest Reverand Green Gold Club and City Park Golf Club as well. They both show the best of TGC 2, IMO. Are you playing with Tour, Player, or Standard clubs? I'd suggest you start with Player Clubs, as they would be roughly the equivalent of Pro difficulty (at least with a controller) in JNPG. Tour clubs are also pretty close to Tour Pro difficulty in JNPG.

I meant to comment on this earlier, the bent left arm bothers me a bit to this day, but not nearly as much as it did early on. They mo-capped pro golfers for both the male and female animations in the game. I saw a video of their mo-cap session in the studio, and Kirk Oguri does have a bent left arm in his backswing in real life. Could they have gotten a male pro golfer who doesn't have a bent left arm during his swing? Sure, but he might not have worked as cheap
I really don't know the reason why they settled on Kirk, but I would suspect proximity to their studio would have some bearing on it. He's in New York and the female model, Jessica Carafiello is in Connecticut.

If they had used Jordan Spieth, they also would have had a bent left arm. A game aimed at the masses though would be better off straightening it though.

I also remember reading a post by the developer on how they wanted to try to “straighten out” the male avatar’s left arm in the motion capture conversion, but that it would require much more development time than they were willing to allocate to.I meant to comment on this earlier, the bent left arm bothers me a bit to this day, but not nearly as much as it did early on. Never really noticed the left arm issue in TGC. Just kinda baffled that someone comparing JNPG to TGC2 would comment on the avatar!!
Ummm....why not?

Yeah why not? The classic case of " oo its got mocap so it must be 100% authentic " you can't be that gullible surely? We all know hacker harry or Mr freeze as i like to call him, has no mocap love...The post shot drama queen avatar of TGC is, so thats where we start picking bones.

It's really strange. The first thing any coach or parent or friend will tell a new golfer is 'keep your left arm straight' and that everything will fall into place from there. You can't be consistent if you go from straight to bent to straight in your swing.
But it's a bloody computer game where it's a canned swing and therefore consistent they will tell ya. Just another failure in the quest for a realistic golf game.

OK. More observations...
The ability to customize the appearance of the dude is de rigueur in games these days. The TGC2 one is adequate but I give it 6/10 compared to the Don Bradman Cricket one which is probably 8.5/10. DBC had the ability to add the basketball I carry under my shirt. Is this important? I don't know. If we have to watch a dude to play maybe it is. The Perfect Golf one I give..hmmm....0/10
I've been using the Scout cam thingy for reading putts. Keyboard and mouse is OK. Better than PG's F5 and the bouncing camera. With the controller it's a bit hard to control but I could get used to it. Reading the slopes is slightly worse than PG. Maybe a bit more than 'slightly'.
I should also mention the clean menus and UI at TGC2. It's what you would expect in 2017. Plenty of options. Finding a particular course is a matter of entering the name in a search bar. Well who would have thought of that !!? A search field - not a carousel. Carumba!
Aiming is by direction keys or that thing on the controller. No magic, striped stick. Good. Armand would approve.
But the lighting is woeful now that I've had time to experience it properly. There is no way to change time of day or gamma. 0/10
I've gone to Player clubs and I'm just hacking around out there. That doesn't worry me - yet. The overall gameplay (actual shooting in all situations is not good compared to PG. It's early days but I'm not real confident that I can make it improve with experience. PG is the standard and it's a high standard. PG 9/10, TGC2 6/10.
Cheers
Ted

LOL! I literally think you guys are the only two people on earth that actually think the JNPG avatar is better than the one in TGC2. Talk about broken arms/wrists... have you even LOOKED at the guy in JNPG?!! LOL!!
And no. I certainly do not think that the TGC2 avatar is 100% authentic. Please quote anyone that's ever said that. And I also am not a big fan of the post-shot reactions as half of them are so poorly applied that it's either laughable or infuriating.
But I'd DAMN sure prefer a close to real-time mo-capped avatar over a stick figure broken-wristed avatar any day of the week. But that's just me. I kinda prefer my games in 2018 to at least look like something that belongs in this decade.
