That's exactly what I was asking - I didn't know if the societies had randomly generated players you're competing against or it was other people playing live or as the additional scenario you pointed out, it was ghost players. Thanks - I get it.
I was confusing reading my last line again - I was in JNPG Sim's Discord channel which indicates which games people are playing. I fired up TGC2 once to check something out and all these "Shimonko's a traitor" messages started coming through god love 'em.

Next time just tell them you’re not “married” to JNPG so you’re not “cheating” on it by playing TGC2 too.

Do i wish PG had mo cap? yes of course, but with TGC 2's mocap you get those very annoying post shot reactions, some are cheesy beyond belief, they actually detract from the experience.

meh
I honestly wouldn't want to give a nickel to Maximum Games in particular at this point.
By my way of thinking, their involvement basically ruined TGC2 relative to the potential it had.
Any news on TGC3 yet?

The TGC2 forum members are waiting with bated breath for the “Big Announcement” from HBS while expressing wild speculation of everything from ties cut with MG to a buyout from MS.Any news on TGC3 yet?

What was the story with MG (and who are they?)

Maximum Games is the company that HBS contracted with to publish TGC2 that many (including myself) believe did a poor job of promoting TGC2. There is also the belief that MG have stifled the good communication that HBS had with the community prior to their publishing relationship with MG.What was the story with MG (and who are they?)
There have also been fewer patches and updates for TGC2 than with TGC1.

Whew. Just downloaded it today. Hard to take but I'll persevere.
Very first impressions...
Appalling avatar. Who is in charge of that rubbish? Don't let them anywhere near TGC3
I strangled the commentator naturally.
The lighting is very nice.
The tempo is very hard to get Perfect/Perfect after playing PG for so long.
Played a few holes in an Open-To-All tournament at some stupid-looking course. I won't be able to handle any tricked up courses. No, no, no.
Worth the $2.99 I paid this morning (I had 5 bucks in my Steam wallet already) but no more.
I will keep delving in though and see if I can crack some decent gameplay experience.

Up until just recently, I’ve struggled with the tempoed swing (especially with Tour clubs) to the point that I almost gave up on TGC2. Keep at it, you’ll figure it out and hopefully enjoy it.

The biggest “broken” part of the game that I’m frustrated with is the chip glitch where random chips from the rough stick on the green instead of rolling out. HBS have finally acknowledged the glitch but they say that due to it’s randomness they have not been able to fix it yet.

Not very good playability with mouse and keyboard but not too bad a game with steam controller imho.
Should get a bit of "sprawling on the sofa" gameplay out of some courses that aren't in JNPG
6 out of 10...

I totally agree with your assessment of that course. Yikes!
Most of the courses featured in that Society’s tournaments are of much better quality.

Interesting. I feel exactly the opposite of you on the avatar and the lighting. Although the lighting depends on the course so maybe you'll see what I mean after a few more rounds.
Tricked out courses drive me crazy in the TGC franchise. There are some really good courses but unfortunately you have to work to find them.

Seriously, do you prefer the avatar in JNPG to the one you can customize (up to a point) in TGC 2? Hacker Harry looks like something out of The Walking Dead. IMO. I find the TGC 2 golfer's animation to be more fluid and more proportionally linked to the movement of the thumbstick.
The tempo is its own unique entity. The best thing you can do is think of taking a slow, easy swing. If you try to accelerate through the downswing, you're going to wind up with a "fast" or "very fast" downswing, either of which can be catastrophic. I don't agree with the idea of making the downswing speed match the backswing speed, remembering also that the backswing speed has a game standard for "perfect" against which it is being compared. However, over time I've become accustomed to what it takes to execute a "Perfect/Perfect" tempo. I've certainly come nowhere near close to mastering it, but I like the added challenge it provides. You're better off erring on the side of "Perfect/Slow" in your swing tempo; it's nowhere near as punitive as "Perfect/Fast".
I don't know what course you played, but there are some great RCRs in TGC 2. Try Friendbomber's Sawgrass, or The CLV's Magnolia National (Augusta National) for starters. There are also some ridiculous, tricked-up courses that are more like obstacle courses than golf courses. Go with the courses with the higher ratings from players and you'll generally find a realistic course.
I like the commentary of John McArthur, but I can see where some wouldn't like it... I'm a weird bird myself. Thankfully, you do have the option of turning him off if he's not your cup of tea.
