I thought you had me blocked Lee?
You peeker you!
You just can't resist having a look can you?

When there are no other productive tasks to perform on a computer a Controller would be just right for simply Gaming.

Totally agree! The controller is truly perfect for relaxed and focused gaming.

Unless of course "you" are disabled

That's very thoughtful of you to show concern, but I am not disabled (thankfully!)

Say, since you're a video guy and while you're logged in anyways, you should go check out some of the new videos being made by Kiwi.
That chap knows how to make some great content that I'm sure you'll appreciate.

It's nice to have some original and entertaining course videos coming down the pipe.

i do not like the sometimes to me kinda elitist behaviour where ppl think their swingmethod is better than others, says more about these ppl, than about the method.

I hope I'm not being elitist about my swing method, because I don't look down my nose at other methods.  I'm for whatever suite of control methods results in the highest number of sales yielding a favorable return on investment for the developer.  I'll freely admit that controller interfaces are the most susceptible to manipulation for cheating purposes.  Along with the ease of use and lack of requirement for a desktop, I like the convenience and the variable tactile resistance that a thumbstick controller affords.  I'll accept the baggage that comes along with controller swings in terms of suspicion of it being modified.

I play competitively with a group of like-minded individuals who play the game straight up using their controllers.  There are some public competitions I take part in where I'm sure there are some players who alter their controllers outside of the design of the controller and achieve a competitive advantage.  I don't worry about that and I'll find players on the leaderboard who I know aren't gaming the system and focus my competitive juices towards them.

I got a really nice 110" 16x9 screen for Christmas (my last one was a 7'x5' 4:3 with creases). So I bought an Xbox one S and bought TGC 2 for my golf fix and I like the console version much better. The short game is still a little perplexing, but with the Xbox one controller pulling off a good shot is harder and more rewarding than on an Xbox 360 controller. JNPG is still the better game, but I'm actually enjoying it on console, plus a 110" screen.

I've played it on the XB1 and the PC and I enjoy the PC version better simply because the graphics are better.  But from a controller standpoint I was using an XB1 controller in both scenarios and my experience there was roughly equivalent.  I agree that executing a good swing using this controller is engaging enough to be fun.  I also agree that JNPG is still the better core game but the funny thing is that I still play TGC2 more than JNPG.  Can't quite figure out why except that I feel kinda "disconnected" when I play JNPG.  I think it's the 1990's era animation coupled with the slight lag between the input and the animation.

I recently Installed TGC 2 back on to my system, sorry but i still cannot get past the failings of the short game, off the tee is ok, its just the short game that fails badly.  Having to totally deloft a chip shot everytime just to get it to behave like a chip shot is so annoying.  The pitch is crazy easy to pull off up to 90 yds away, no different from the first game, and flop is just a mess that has hardly changed from TGC 1, supposedly you can blade a flop...i never have.  And i still cannot get past how putts in TGC still break right off the bat, being a PG player it is so much more noticeable and unrealistic.  Its still a drag to wade thru courses and random disconnects really grip my S**t.  Overall the game still plays a bit on the easy side mainly thanks to the easy pitch, flop and wedge shots.  First round back after not playing for 6 months i shanked my first tee shot, then sorted out the swing ( got the line slightly left of centre, still in cone every shot ) it still lacks variation imo, finished the round -8  if i played every day i'd be shooting the lights out every round, i don't do that playing TP in PG.

I tell you another thing too DoGgs. The TGC Tours also dictates what gamepad you can or cannot use. Since TGC2 came out I've purchased 3 different Xbox One gamepads and have been flagged for all 3 of them and DQ'd from tournaments. I went from playing in the Euro Tour back down to CC. At first when the game came out I had about 3 top 10 placings and the next thing I knew I started being DQ'd. They call it their Fair Play Policy (FPP). If there API sees that you've hit perfectly straight shots during your rounds you are automatically DQ'd for that tournament. But yet you still see players shooting -50's and -60's so you can't tell me those players aren't hitting straight shots. I've totally stepped away from that game for awhile and joined the PGLS here and am pretty much going to play this game from here on out. It's a regular sh!tshow over there anymore.

It's short game is definetly it's weakness. I hit a chip 1' downhill that was about 18 yards hit a full lob wedge and it checked up at 14 yards on a down slope. Whisky tango foxtrot! And you have to account for break off the putter which is BS (never hit a putt irl that broke in the first two feet on over 20 feet putts like this game does)

With that being said I love the game 150+ yards out. Tee shots are a joy with the one controller (360 controller was to easy to hit it straight and with good tempo). I really struggle with tempo and most of my shots have a draw from either fast downswing or left of center cone. And my best score so far was 66 on a 6700 course. I struggle to break par on long courses as I am using the player clubs. I tried the tour clubs and shot 83,lol. Not quite ready for them.

To get tour clubs going well, all you have to do is try different ways of actually holding the gamepad, i do that with PG but its harder to maintain it every round, with TGC i find it much easier to maintain it consistently.  I'm pretty good with the tempo, all i do is start my downswing just as the backswing hits peak ( feels like there is no pause ) doing that gives me PP tempo almost everytime, heres the kicker though... through monitoring my in game FPS using the geforce experience FPS counter, i noticed that my tempo could start to become a little bit erratic on courses that are heavily planted and the fps is lower than usual.  Playing a course with good fps yields PP tempo everytime, that tells me that tempo is affected by framerate...not good.

Irrespective of other issues, HB needs to get their head out of their rear and get multiplayer rolled out in a more comprehensive and modern way at the minimum.

This is so true.  The multiplayer in TGC 2 is actually more limited than that of TGC 1    I quit trying to play what's left of multiplayer in it because it just doesn't feel live to me, even when I set it up for animation that result in a 2 to 3 second lag between voice communication and animation.  I usually know what's happened with my opponent's shots 3 seconds in advance because the player's vocal reactions over the headset speak volumes... it feels awkward and the "liveness" factor of it is compromised appreciably by this.

All we know is an announcement of some major significance will be made at some point in February.  The only hint we're given is that it will be of special interest to fans of career mode play.  I don't do career mode in its current state, and things would have to change considerably for me to consider giving it a shot.  I don't want to play against numbers on a customizable spread sheet, I want to play against AI goflers who are playing out each hole, based on an attribute built AI golfer whom I could play a round along with if I so desired.... I don't think we're going to see anything approaching that.

That's my #1 problem.

I literally don't care about anything about TGC if they don't make the Multiplayer a modern 2018+ experience.

I have no clue how they can continue justifying that horrid excuse of multiplayer at this point.

They've made no comment on multiplayer as it relates to this February announcement, but I wouldn't say that means we won't be getting improvements/expansion either in an update to TGC 2, or possibly a TGC 3 later this year.  At the very least, they need to get the "pre-round, invite to match" feature working again, along with true, real time matchplay and fourball.  This all worked great for me on the XBox One, and was about 75% reliable on the PC.

I still enjoy the gameplay in TGC 2 now, as much as ever.  The XBox One version gets a surprisingly significant boost in both performance and appearance on my XBox One X.  I'm enjoying the heck out of Society play, as I'm active in three Societies that take up most of my available golf gaming time.  It's hard to find time to just play a casual round to check out a new course, but about once a week a new course comes along that I can't wait to play, and I'll go out of my way to play it.  Still, if it weren't for Society (Tournaments in a Season) play in TGC 2, I doubt seriously that I'd be playing it with the fervor that I now am.

So Jcat, do these Societies consisting of fictitious players posting scores, or are they other real players posting scores? I should fire it up to check, but last time I did that someone of the sim Discord channel saw the "Shimonko is playing TGC2" and I got smashed. :)

I'm not fully sure what you're asking, but I'll take a stab at it... Societies have the scores and ghost play available of other human controlled players playing in the same event under the same conditions.  I enjoy playing withe the ghost balls of other players, as you can still play at your desired pace, as they play independently of you and all you see is their ball.  If I'm tight with somebody in the final round or two, I'll play with their ghost in full animation using turn-based play.

You can even play your rounds with a 'live' human player if you sync your round with theirs.  There's still a 2 to 4 second delay between voice communication and the actual play of your opponent being animated though.

So you were playing in a Society tournament and someone saw that you were playing TGC 2 and maybe decided to try to play with you?  They can do that, but if their round wasn't launched from the same tournament, they won't be playing the same tees, pin settings, and wind conditions as you.  As for your getting "smashed", do you mean by whoever you might have been playing with, or by some 'adult beverages' you may have consumed?  ;)
