Well I didn't expect much from TGC2 and unfortunately my expectations were correct.

I've tried to like it. There isn't much point in giving details of why I don't. Everyone is aware of the problems. But my main criterion is whether I play the game. At this point I have no desire to play TGC2.

I know I shouldn't be discussing PG1 here but let me say that between the two games and after years of development of both it is gobsmacking that the standards of two games being sold in 2018 are so poor in my opinion. Good luck to the guys who can get something out of either. Well done. I admire you. I'm being sincere.

No one can fault you for stating your honest opinion.  I must say that if I were a 3-clicker or a real time mouse swinger, TGC 2 wouldn't get much attention from me.  The 3-click dynamic, not being real time, is and has been lost on me since 1999, when I experienced PGA Championship Golf 99's real time mouse swing for the first time.  I now no longer sit at a desk when I game, so the mouse swing interface, be it real time or not, is lost on me, although I must confess I'm jealous of those of you who do play the JNPG game with the real time mouse swing and its requisite 1:4 ratio.... my sorry ass is just too lazy to play that way

I can't explain why TGC 2's controller swing appeals to me so strongly.  I can see that it's rather rudimentary in its current state, but it's got just enough of another input dimension (the matching of the backswing/downswing tempo) to make it feel a bit deeper to me.  If you're not a real time controller fan, this won't mean diddly to you and there's no way I can explain why it works for me to the extent it does.  If TGC 2/3, or PG2 somehow manages to incorporate a 1:3, or 1:4, backswing to downswing ratio with a thumbstick controller in a future iteration, my life will be even more consumed by PC/XBox One X golf gaming than it is now

I decided to buy TGC2 in the sale last week, I reckoned it was worth the discounted £5.99 punt just to test it, especially with Steam's 2 hour gameplay returns policy.

I think it does well for a fun game of golf, I like the Real Time Swing, it takes me back to TW07  :D
The first hour of gameplay was a bit frustrating, chipping and putting felt disconnected but after a few hours I'm in the groove with the middle clubs.  Would love to see a 3C version too but I'm sure that'll never happen.

Driving and fairway shots feel good and fairly natural, I also think they've implemented the follow cameras and angles really well, definitely some thought has gone into that part.  I'm cool with the ride along commentary as you play, it's not too much and works well for fun golf.

I agree with comments that courses can look a bit samey but there definitely some gems mixed in with the plethora.

All in all I'm glad I bought it, £5.99 was a bargain.

Maybe that’s HBS “big announcement”, that 3 click will be added to the game. ;)

I’ve always felt that the omission of 3 click was a big mistake (although I would not use it).

However, HBS may possibly make it an option in a future version of TGC as the current producer Shaun seems a little more open to options than the previous producer (AK).

That and also Anthony refusing to add a multiplayer lobby are the two biggest mistakes.

Their big reveal will be that multiplayer games will stay connected and be viable for 9 holes and they will be hard working on pushing that to 18 in the coming decade...now that would be the mother of all reveals.

I'd be shocked if they added 3C to their game. Last time it was discussed they basically said that they wanted their game to be more progressive and that 3C is a relic from the past that will stay in the past when it comes to their golf game.

Agree on multiplayer. It's absurd that they haven't done more here. I think they've got their current code so wrapped around ghost play that adding in a proper lobby and multiplayer setup would require a complete rewrite. Maybe in TGC3 but I'm still not holding my breath based on recent comments from Shaun.

This upcoming announcement will likely tell me everything I need to know about my future with their game.

I'll be as shocked as you if they add a 3-click swing interface as part of the announcement Mebby.  My guess is they're adding something more to Career mode play, are announcing the end of their relationship with Maximum Games as their publisher and announcing the Skytrak TGC2 Simulator Edition of the game.

I'm hoping they're going to be at least restoring the multiplayer options and functionality we had in TGC 1, but I'm certainly not expecting anything like a multiplayer lobby, best-ball, alternate shot, or other more unique game types.  Sadly, I only have about 5% hope that we'll even get back what we had in TGC 1.

I'll still be playing the game if they do nothing more than keep Society tournament play the way it is right now.  I'm playing in three Societies and they're all entertaining to me, but outside of that, I might play at best one round outside of Society tournament play, and that's usually to check out a new course of particular intrigue.

TGC Simulator edition? TGC has been available for Skytrak for quite a while now, same as JNPG for Skytrak.

TGC Simulator Edition (the 2 is the key I think)

If you're right about their announcement then it will be a colossal disappointment for a majority of folks.  I certainly hope there's more meat to it than that.  They'd be well served to at least tack on some sort of TGC3 roadmap complete with an acknowledgement of a significant multiplayer focus.  In addition - they need to be crystal clear as to what items will be addressed via updates with TGC2 (chipping, broken post-shot animations, lighting, etc).

I'll continue playing the game in it's current state but my enthusiasm about the future will be significantly muted.

I saw that. Those guys do not know. Nobody does. That’s what they are hoping for. But if it is a TGC 2 Simulator edition, it’s gonna be huge disappointment. Multiplayer didn’t improve and sim guys have no need for all that social stuff.

True, that post along with a few others I've read in the golfsimulator forum have said they've heard rumors of a TGC 2 Skytrak version, but nothing that I've been able to find written in stone.  When the producer of TGC 2 was asked about it in November of last year, he responded with 'we don't have the roadmap for that yet'.  It would be hard for me to believe that they would go from that in November, to having a product ready to roll out in February/March.

I have no idea how popular multiplayer is on simulators, so I didn't think about factoring that into the potential success of a simulator version that was no better off in the multiplayer department than the PC/console versions.

I don't really see why HB Shaun would be on the forum pumping up that particular crowd about a TGC 2 simulator release.

That's talking health food to a drunk crowd at the bar - makes no sense..

I don't think he's pumping the forum for a possible TGC 2 simulator release, especially given his posture on it when queried about it in November.  I think they're casting their lot with a career mode upgrade at the forefront.
