Lost All My Human Heights

Best Answer axe360 , 13 February 2017 - 01:20 AM

Note: This is solved as far as How to get the Human Heights back into the game if you make a mistake and lose them. I do not know how I deleted them but at least I know how to get them back, if it ever happens again..

So, if you ever lose human heights from hierarchy, just reload CFPackage but make sure you uncheck the new terrain box I think it was, so you don't reinstall the stock terrain.  Good damn thing I did "backup Terrain Saves" whew..

Also I got all 7 human heights back, that I had previously made. Amazing ppl that built CF..Hat's off to them. :D

Now I could just not ask the question in the first place but I like to share. lol ;)

Was just doing terrain work when suddenly I lost all my 7 human heights I had made for the course in the Hierarchy.

Say's "missing prefab" 7x. I had made one for each hole.

I don't even have the basic stock one anymore.

Should I just reinstall the CF Package to get the stock one back?

I think I'll try that.

Went back to an earlier save and there still missing. Help.

I want a job where my product can epically fail but I get praise for making it so if you work hard enough you can get your work back. <_< I'm real close to reinstalling unity and CF and trying again, but stories like this just give me chills.

I would hardly say reloading the CFPackage is "working very hard". It wasn't an epic fail, although at first I did skip a heartbeat.

In the beginning, I reinstalled Unity, several times but now that I am learning my way around, I have found that I don't see myself ever reinstalling Unity again and reinstalling CF Package Tutorial only takes a min. or 2.

Of course, I still don't know how I removed all my human_heights,  in the first place but hopefully someone knows how that can happen?

Why are you thinking of reinstalling?

Got into my project and ran into multiple difficulties awhile back. Took an extended break, and since I never made it beyond the test course phase (which as I remember wouldn't compile properly) I figure I may as well start fresh. Its not that much trouble (as you said), but I'm not looking forward to the same struggles (which seem to occur regularly in Unity) as you've seen. Thanks for your concern though Axe.

"May you always not be too unhappy because you backup frequently." :D

Thanks Axe. I'd seen that tut (as I remember it didn't help). Still, some night soon I'm going to sit down (with a fifth of bourbon) and try again.

Things just don't delete themselves there is always an element of human error.
