Ocean lateral hazard/OOB question?

Best Answer Mike Jones , 21 November 2016 - 01:05 PM

There is different rules when shooting OOB vs water?! So I think this isn't a very good option. I am myself also a little confused how this should be done. I'm also building a real course from Finland where is a lake (big lake that goes to the end of one side of the terrain) and it's a lateral water hazard IRL.

Can I draw that other side of the lateral water hazard circle to the middle of the lake or what? I find this hazard staff kind of weird :(.

Well if you really want to, you can draw a lateral hazard around the lake and then draw your OOB line far out into the water (but inside your lateral hazard line)  This will force the game to treat the lake/ocean as a lateral hazard area but you may then get an unrealistic drop option which might catch a few people out.

you mean around a coastline surely, the ocean boundaries are way out in the distance, MJ has tutorials here for hazards.

Best to set the ocean as OOB as sometimes if you set it to a hazard it can give you the option to drop on the other side of it which could be in Fiji.

OK. i have the out of bounds around the whole course which is just inside the edge of the terran.that lets me build the game and includes every thing inside that spline, this includes the ocean to that point.right now i need a out of bounds for the coast line which is only part way round.it will not build without wanting to join the two ends.i need to define that part of the coast as a hassed of some kind.

Your tutorial didn't answer to this question and I think it's just the reason why Hilton asked this in the first place.

PS. JNPG and Course Forge are just great! Thank you very much for bringing them to us and thanks for the great tutorials!

I don't understand why you'd want a water hazard in OOB.  OOB doesn't care what material it is.  It could be lava and still it would be OOB.  If water is designated as a lateral, then it can't be OOB.

You can only have OOB so if you wanted to make the ocean OOB you would have to change the original OOB line you already have to run along side the coast rather than the edge of the entire plot.

Thanks for anwering Mike! I think I got it. Only thing i missed is why would JNPG give me drop option in OOB area? I'll see how it goes when I get there :).
