Cut Out Tool ...

Best Answer Mike Jones , 24 November 2016 - 08:28 PM

You can create a layer with the same texture as you're using on your terrain and use that for the cut out spline. Might need a bit of tweaking to get it to match exactly but that's the way to do it.

Somehow i don't achieve with the tool what i want ... i just get a hole without a propper seam ... doesn't look right

... tried different materials ... semi rough, rough, fairway etc... with deep rough i get the flicker error and with the others i get a hole without seam ...?

Is it not meant do cut from the last instance of splines? Mike used in on the fairway as i remember from the tuts.

Do i have to create my own seam for this case? If someone could point me in the right direction ... ;)

You can paint inside the cut-out to blend the edge closer to the outer terrain, but this is how it is I'm afraid.

PS I like the way those cutouts look on your course anyways - nice job.

Ok  ... no need to make a new topic with the same subject ... ?! ...

My question is , can I use the Cut Out tool directly on the terrain , instead of inside a spline .... Why you might ask ... well I want to change a piece of the terrain ,( that is set as rough) , to deep rough ...

Can't you just use a deep rough spline Ola?

You can draw a deep rough spline on its own, mesh it in, then cut it out to achieve this.

You need to have a mesh for the game to know to apply a property other than regular rough. Even though it's cut out it's not really removed, just transparent.

Ian: The Idea was to have an option to paint on the deep rough ... I do have a "splined" deep rough there at the moment , but is doesnt look like I want it to ....  texturevise....
