How do you create a non-water hazard?

If you mark a hazard with the hazard splines and do not have a water plane placed (the ball will rest on terrain), it will behave like you want. Go to the full post

Lots of courses have them (including, hopefully, the one I'm working on). It's an area marked as a hazard that you have the option to play from, or take a penalty stroke and a drop per the rules of golf.

Thanks DP! Its not obvious, yet it does the trick (if you're right). May you never engage in a land battle in Asia (a PB allusion)!

Yes, and "Never go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line."

The other odd hazard idea that I am using at Kiawah is for environmental areas. I don't want the "play it as it lies" but instead a drop only. So, I'm placing water hazard splines AND a regular spline with water physics that is marked with cutout (the scissors icon, that makes the mesh invisible).

This makes the ball think it traveled through the water plane and thus the "play it as it lies" is NOT an option. Only downside is it still makes a splash in the grass areas but I'm ok with that.
