I just logged on JNPG and before the game launched there was an update. I tried to view the details of the update, but there was no explanation. Anyone have an idea of the details of this update???

I loaded up the game after seeing this thread indicating that there was another update. It used to be that when there was an update you could see it updating at the top left where it displayed JNPG. That is no longer the case so the only way I can verify that there was an update is by checking the build number. Sure enough the current build number is 3873230 whereas a few days ago it was 3847870.
The only difference I can see in the game is that the post shot box is no longer transparent and the centre of it is now semi opaque. I can't tell if the avatar is the same distance because it has been changed so many times.
The shadow looks fine to me as it was after the patch last week.

I'm new, so forgive the dumb question. Where does on find the build number, please? Thank you.

On the first screen of JNPG you will see Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf at the top left of the screen in blue. Right click on it and a drop down menu will appear. Left click on Properties. That will take you to another screen. Click on Local Files and your Build number will be displayed at the bottom.

Wow - 3d grass addition is a game changer at Scioto; I have no idea how difficult it may or may not be to add this to courses but sure hope many designs will be converted using this.
It's like a whole new game... and a welcome one!

Yes, that is the build that I now have. I have no idea what these updates are updating so don't know if I should be installing the shadow patch for the third time since the shadow doesn't look much different than before today's update. Maybe these updates are for Trackman users?

Probably, because that is the only user base they care about now.

Remember way back when we used to receive community announcements detailing the changes made in each patch? Alot has changed in the last couple years. Thank goodness for the designers and other talented community members that continue to keep the game interesting with new courses and visual advancements.

Any chance you could post a screenshot?I have not seen any updates and am curious about the build number. Not sure what "first screen" you are referring to.I'm sure it will be one of those "duh" moments.

The "first screen" is Steam, but I'm guessing many people don't start Steam and then start PG from there.
The build number is on the same screen as the "Verify Integrity of Game Files" button:

When I said "first screen" I was referring to the screen where you click "Play" to start JNPG. That screen also shows your Friends and Achievements. At the top left of that screen is Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf in white letters against a blue background. Right click on that and you will get a drop down menu. Then left click on Properties and it will take you to another screen. On that screen left click on Local Files. The Build number will be displayed on the bottom of the screen.
