I have a seaplane flying across an island so it would be heard on some holes and not on others. Is it possible to attach an audio file of the engine sound to the plane, or would I need to place several overlapping sound files along it's route. I did check out the Unity help files but didn't find anything.
Attach audio file to an object.

The Sound Source can be added to the plane.
Click on Plane, then in inspector Add Component / Audio.
I think Audio is found under the misc.
Set audio for engine to Play on Awake and Loop.
Spatial = 3D with Custom Rolloff. then set the space
you want the sound to cover.
