First of all, don't save your images as PNG. save them as JPG with some compression. Where are you getting the images. Are they saved from GM? Did you select "Crop to selection" when you save your images?

Hi Larrykuh...appreciate the help. A video speaks a thousand words... I tried to keep it short. This is the same routine I go through every time. Sometimes the image comes out 4096x4096, sometimes 13438x13438?

The size of your exported overlay is dependent on the size of your selection area and the resolution of the overlay image. If it is truly level 20 in SASPlanet, then it will be larger. Again, don't export the overlay as a PNG, export it as a JPG at 75% compression or so. The file size will be much smaller. Then load it into Photoshop or other image processing program and change to image size to 8192x8192. I believe Unity will attempt to compress it to that size, so it is much better to have it at that size when you load it into Unity.

Okay, I thought since the grid was 2048x2048 and setting the x,y axis to 0.5 and checking "crop" it was supposed to do something...lol
Okay, appreciate your help my friend...

Those settings should result in the smaller, 4096 square image which is correct. The bigger file, maybe you're not cropping to the selected area.

Hi jt83...I don't know, it's sort of weird. I did 3 courses last night, 2 came out with the 4096x4096 image, and 1 with the 13438x13438 image. I have to admit I have gone back a couple of times on occasion to make sure I checked "crop". lol
Say, while your here, I thought I'd ask...I've been downloading the .laz tiles instead of .las because their smaller downloads in size. The elevation looks fine to me in Unity. Is there any big difference between the two? Thanks
Edit: The "selected area" would just be where I leave the grid, right?

The .LAZ is just a zipped .LAS file, no other difference that I know of.
Second I rarely use .PNG myself anymore but I did at first because I learned all these steps from a friend so I made a video of it so I wouldn't forget some day..lol - yep always crop to selection on the image and lidar file.
Sorry I haven't talked much but I was silenced by a mod and everything had to be approved.

I know the feeling about needing to make a video so I won't forget what I did an hour ago!...lol
Okay, I bet that's it, I probably didn't crop to selection on the image "and" lidar file on those occasions.
Silenced? You're one of the most informed and helpful guys on this forum, you're a paragon of virtue, a pillar of integrity, I got to where I am today, because of you! I strongly protest!
