lol..
I disagree... but understand the concern.
Before Tiger... regarding games, we had alot of variety out there... granted, some were on the backs on other names, such Daly, Leadbetter, Nicklaus, Palmer but some stood without those names too. Golf uses so much of what is in the game to promote itself, it doesn't need a name every year to endorse it.
We've seen courses stand alone regarding the game and beauty of golf. Look at Pebble Beach, Sawgrass, Congressional, Valderrama over the years and tell me certain holes don't stand out. The fact that they do stand out, has been likely marketed in other ways that you're less able to recall, but have been made aware of them. Now add the most famous course in the world, Augusta, and tell me the name of the Tournament they clamber to participate for that Green Jacket.... I think we can all easily say the name.
Certainly Tiger had something alluring... for one he had it from such a young age. That won't change... it's history now. It still lives on within the Golf world. What we're seeing as the years do roll by, is emulation or attempts at it. Rory is struggling to live upto expectation, but you can't say he isn't successful. The game of golf will always promote itself in many ways.
What we're slightly seeing at this moment in time too, is the hype surrounding this game here at PP, being transferred to HB Studios. Whether they are benefitting over there from the recent developments here at PP is a debateable subject. A little like a drum roll beginning here, and suddenly a tannoy going off announcing something else is turning peoples heads. Not to say they are missing anything yet, the drum is still rolling, but I daresay HB are enjoying the fact an audience was forming for them to hone in upon.
