Soon!  :)

Sorry but iRacing already ave the copyright on SOON!, lol. They have been using it for more years than PG has existed.

:D  :D  :D

The community even have a clock gif for it as they always say that the updates will be here at soon-o'clock

Still the announcements are all good news in my book. Just hope the Trackman deal brings good things as far as shot data and courses is concerned.

Wonder if Trackman will replace JN as the named sponsor for the new game? Also, I wonder does this deal mean Trackman are exclusive to PG2 or will they still support other golf titles?

Breathe slowly and keep conversation to a minimum. We have a long, long wait and there's no indication of when we will be rescued. Try to keep it together lads.

AJ will have more news so hopefully he will be able to post soon with more information. Thx for bearing with us!

Thanks for the updates MJ.

Will Trackman have to vet any 'official' response Andrew intends to post? If so, guess we could be waiting a while, lol.

TrackMan (in conjunction with the PGA) looks at the "play with the pros" concept as another income generator.  (One pays an "entry fee" to access the stream of a selected pro's live shot data to play against during an actual tournament.  Recorded tournament rounds of the pros could also be sold after the fact).  There may also be a deal for the PGA to officially release the PP versions of tournament courses for sale (they are all based on 5 cm lidar data provided by the PGA).

This would be amazing Joe. For me that would be irresistable.

Imagine...to play against a real person/people who is/are using a real swing utilizing real clubs in sort of real time (I like the recorded round idea) in real weather. It wouldn't matter if the club distances were out of kilter because we would have certain advantages. It opens up all sorts of other possibilities - I can think of at least one.

That's as opposed to a real person using a dodgy controller (or straight edged mouse  ;) ) who is not even on the course with you. Ugh!

Excellent idea. Oh Lordy, I hope someone is listening.

lmao we already have that... you can play against sim user now if you like. I have played rounds with a few of the sim guys and even use 3 wood off the tee to make things fairer and that was without  using  a straight edge bu oh its ok if i use a the thumb slide as long as it's just my thumb on the straight edge right?

You never disappoint me Slice.

I've played (without straight-edging) against Z who was simming in a recorded round. It was interesting. What I would need is a formal competition and Joe's idea would be brilliant...don't you think?

This can be done officially on OGT Tour as an exhibition event.  Can even set sim guys to Members while mouse/controllers tee from Champ.  If we set mouse/controller guys on Tour Pro, could make it close and fun.  Can even have it NET and Gross using players tour handicaps.  I play with pc guys quite a bit.  Lots of fun.  never about losing or winning.  :)

Interesting concept Z.

The concept has been discussed in the pass among a few sim and pc players.   Might try this out in one of our exhibitions next week.

The more I think about your idea Z the more I like it.

Unfortunately, the only way it would appeal to me to play that way is PvP on the course together. Let me emphasize that the only reason I don't play PG is that I just can't play solo without quickly losing interest. If I was able to play against other guys in real time or a recording I would play at OGT - and real time is problematic with time zones and other commitments.

But back to your idea...

When I did play against your recorded sim round (and realised it) I was impressed by the feeling of 'realness' for want of a better word. I realised it by a wayward shot or two by yourself. I put two and two together. Of course a sim player playing against a PC guy would not have that same feeling but we can't all have a sim set-up.

For Slice's information, I would never use a straight-edge in that case. So try to control yourself mate.

Now...the other thing is that it would be good to play against a real swing. This is a delicate subject and I have to tread lightly. As an RTS-M guy I have some strange objection to playing against 3Clickers or gamepad controllers (or AI for heaven's sake).

For GB's sake, I know what you are going to say so there's no need saying it. Try to control yourself sport.

It really does appeal to me as an RTS-M player. It's like - if I was a Homo neanderthalensis I would prefer to breed up to a Homo sapiens sapiens than down to a 3Clicking Homo erectus. No offence.

Ideally though, Joe's idea of playing against a recording of real tour pros would be magical. But we have a lot of evolving to do until we get to that point.

I think that's a completely fair and rational position.
The swings are all so different in the challenges they offer (or don't) that it makes total sense to want to isolate them for competitive purposes.

Yep - I agree.  It's only human nature (unless you are perfect like GB).

I don't care what swing you have I will play against all.  Lets not turn this thread into a who has the easiest swing and just play the damn game as it lies.

With work apparently progressing on PG2, well at least on the UI for simulator users, I wonder if we will soon see an announcement from PP similar to that that came from Kunos Simulatione the team behind Assetto Corsa, who today announced that no more updates will be made to AC as all work will now concentrate on their sequel title Assetto Corsa Competizione.

I would think any official announcements in respect of JNPG would not be subject to the Trackman vetting like with PG2, but then seeing as they acquired PP I suppose they now have control over all things PP related so anything Andrew or Mike want to announce officially will need the Trackman rubber stamping.

Folks used to think it was quiet around here from a Dev comments perspective, my guessing is it will get even quieter, lol. Even the Facebook postings seem to have had the Trackman treatment too, as nothing on there since end of October.

:D

Unless the new regime officially releases news that PG2 will indeed be a release for PC on traditional input methods, I'm just assuming "PG2" will exclusively be Trackman Sim Software.

Makes all the sense in the world that the Sim company would like to have new software be exclusively for their Sim hardware.

I'm not going to bother dragging the good ol' Crystal Ball out of the closet (no...not my wife, the other one) and I'll just use my keen intuition. I was spot on in the 'will they sell' thread so there's no reason I won't be wrong here...

...I think you are right Buck. It makes sense that there will be no PC based PG2. The suits are crunching the numbers as we speak and I would say it doesn't look good. The fact that our man in the suit hasn't appeared seems to bear that out. Do you think they are too embarrassed to make the announcement? Nah...impossible.

There has been no firm announcement that there will be a PC version of PG2. All Mike said was, "As far as PG2 is concerned nothing is off the table and that includes PC and Console releases." That certainly doesn't mean it will be on the table. It will be interesting when (it's been 23 days) the bloke in the suit makes his announcement whether there is a firm commitment to a PC version. Pressure's on!

Just to be clear, I'm 100% confident there will be a PC version, since that's what the trackman sim setup uses for hardware I would imagine.
It's more a question of whether they'll be any other input methods to play the game anymore…

I would imagine you could remove a lot of complexity and code and other issues and problems by stripping everything out other than an interface for the simulator.

We could be looking at the final death blow for 3C, modern, sim oriented golf here.
Obviously controller users will continue their lives over with TGC it would appear and Links continues to function for 3Cers to revert to I suppose.
