Full shot previews are very much arcade.
The current loft box (and presumably the future loft box) are very aracde.
To say that TGC has no arcade elements is a stretch.
I really enjoy TGC because I turn all that garbage off (or chose not to use it) but the fact that those features exist clearly earns it the label of being more arcade.
Just my $0.02.

None of which are forced onto the user.

I did not say TGC2019 does not have arcade elements. Having certain elements alone does not make a game “arcade”.

I also stated that none of those elements are forced onto the user with no way to disable.

Way off the mark as usual. Good job the top players in the world don't listen to this baloney. They're quite happy to enjoy the real links golf experience over here and see it as an essential part of increasing their skill sets.

Actually, a lot of them don't like making the trip, they do it because it's their job.  I caddied on tour for a few years, I know what many talked about.

Poor lodging, bad food, ugly boring golf courses.  And links golf is just a silly phrase - what I saw today was guys hitting 400 yard drives due to crazy roll and flying short irons in and stopping them on a dime.  It's target golf just like in the USA.

Many of them don't like making the trip! lol do me a favour...tell that to Patrick Reid who chose to play the euro tour then goes on to win the masters.  Tell it to Tom watson and fred couples who loved my local links Royal Porthcawl even though its not on the open rota.  If you or any player complains about so called poor lodging, poor food etc then you/they lack character, determination and possibly two testicles as well.  adx i believe you are in a minority of one, and a thoroughly insular individual that can see no further than your own garden fence.

We were looking at improving it for TGC2, which did happen, but it obviously didn't go far enough. It'll be interesting to see what the guys do this year.

Looking at TheApexHound playing a round with a Dev the other day, it seems the 'loft indicator' is just the same as it always has been and after a few weeks, there will be players who have it dialled in, having worked out what yardage effect each notch on the loft indicator has on a shot. it doesn't look like they have made any changes to it at all. Same as with the bunkers in the designer, they look naff.

It's things like these that make me feel that TGC2019 is basically just TGC2 with a PGA Tour/FedEX Cup DLC added in, visual tweaks to the swing UI and a new character designer, which seems to have had more attention than the actual game itself (I guess we'll be able to get a good Tommy Flleetwood or Pat Perez looking ani, lol). But that's just my opinion.

You named a few who do like it, I can name plenty who didn't/don't

And you're wrong on Watson lol

Hogan hated the British, Trevino did too.  During those days it made little financial sense.  You almost had to win to break even due to travel costs.  Now you just have to stomach ugly courses for 4 days.

And if you think your best hotels rival the ones here, lol

Definitely some interesting takes on the definition of "arcade".

Mario Golf is arcade. Golden Tee is an arcade game.

Tiger Woods had arcade elements such as after shot boost and the ability to draw/fade the ball after shot as well. The initial Tiger Woods for PC had "TIGER SHOT" when you hit a perfect shot, flames would be flying out with the ball.  They never used that in any future Tiger PC product.

There are arcade features in Hot Shots Golf. But it also is supposed to play a very realistic game.

If a game forces the user to utilize arcade features, then the game should be labelled "arcade".

TGC / TGC2 have NONE of the above. TGC2019 looks to also have NONE of the above as well.

It is comical when some users throw around labels when they really don't know what they are talking about.

I'm almost sure they could sell you an empty box and you'd rate it a 7 out of 10.

Watson initially did not like links courses...wow! how does he feel now?  Watson on royal porthcawl " It was just one great hole after another one, great green complexes, i fell in love with the course immediately"  yeah Tom really hates links, i think i'll take Tom's opinion over yours  ;)

He'd rate it 11/10

Anyone who gives him a little access immediately gets his fanboy support

He craves being part of the process and because he was a forum moderator he knows how to make games better than everyone else ever

Him being involved in TGC  was the start of it being ruined, they listened to all the wrong people and out came dlc disguised as a full game which is exactly what's happening again

So that means how he felt earlier never happened?

you and logic are not friends

And it's funny you state your claim on Tom Watson, can't stand the guy personally.  Talk about an ego and we see how he managed a ryder cup like a fail

Why am i not surprised!  maybe its the fact that links golf is the true test of a golfer that you don't like.  I can fully understand someone who has never played links golf not liking it initially, especially if your maiden round had the elements playing its part, but like a fine wine you learn to appreciate links golf, not run off home with your tail between your legs to the comfort of the calm and tranquil courses that you are used to.  You are in the minority whether you like it or not.

I shot 75 at Carnoustie from the tips it has nothing to do with being able to play well or not.  It's goofy pachinko like golf.  I like difficult, I played a harder course every day (slope and rating wise) in Wolf Run until it just closed.

And it's called a preference, some people may like things differently than you do.

I look out my window and see a better course in Crooked Stick (which I personally don't like) we just have much better access than you do and way more of it.

And I don't care if I'm in the minority, never will :)

When someone takes their OPINION and tries to force that biased OPINION on others as fact, that is indeed comical.

You're entitled to your biased opinion. I am entitled to mine. Therefore, you are not "right" and neither am I.

Excuse me but was I talking to you?  Are you paranoid?

Loved Links:  and my first online golf experience, i couldn't wait to go to best buy for the new 4 pack of courses that came out periodically

TW WII graphics sucked but loved the swing play

TGC: enjoyed the game,  good graphics but color seemed off, but no big deal to me. Overall game play was to easy and needed a lobby for pickup games. Course creator easy to learn.

JNPG:  enjoyed the motion swing with tempo and gravitated to the Tour Pro because I enjoyed the struggle. Always thought the rough should've had a variable lie to require better course management from players. Online peer to peer playing is a blast. Course forge allows for creativity plus detail. The golf game i've enjoyed the most over the last 20 years for sure.

TGC 2: added some nice features, still the swing is to easy and needs a lobby to meet and play. I'm sure there are many who love the swing and its probably just me and my preference.

E6 Golf with Tittle x: Currently my choice to play due to Tittle x swing device realism  and ease of just aim step up and swing.  Also the difficulty of play as in real golf.  I'm shooting bogie golf as in real life.  Courses look very nice, textures blend better then TGC and more realistic IMO. Graphics are comparable to JNPG but i think JNPG is still on top. I have not experienced the 4k ultra hd courses that come with the E6 connect subscription.  No course designer and courses are expensive. $400 for a 12 pack.  Licensed courses are even more expensive.  From my understanding the E6 connect subscription service is for golfers to gamer's,  real sims to air swing device as Tittle X.  No mouse play though.  Tournaments i see and play in are all handicapped and level the playing field.  Does it throw off my real swing, maybe. I setup with a real club and ball, I then have a tape line parallel to the ball as my address point to stand and then use the swing stick. I use the 1 iron clubs in real life so i only use 2 setup distances from the ball  for Irons and my Driver.   So i swing just like i do irl or i suffer the consequences.  If i had the room it would be a GC2 and JNPG for sure.  But i live in Florida and golf year around.

https://www.tittlego...m/tittle_x.html

TGC2019: I will buy and definitely test drive.

Real golf: Will play until i cant

The future has to hold a sim, air swing device for all Golf game titles plus mouse and controller.  Eventually we'll be able to play on our sim along side the pros or their recorded rounds or play from the couch.  We've upped the graphics and realism with sim capability, but we skipped an important part by not building from the WII motion swing device also.  But like everything it will come at a premium.  With JNPG and every time I played Zmax on his GC2 sim, I couldn't help but realize he was really accomplishing a decent round of golf and I was just playing a game.  But that's not all bad.  It's nice to have the ability to do both, after all you cant play 72 holes every day using a swing method.  I would just rather use my time swinging if possible.  The golfing community has always been fun and led to some friends who hook up irl to play.

Just my opinion and experience and not trying to sway anybody from their style or choice of game to play.  We've all got individual preferences.

JTee1,

Thanks for the kind words. Only time I have a chance is when you play TP MS/RTSM... lol. Jnpg is the only software that allows all devices to play together. Let’s hope jnpg 2 does the same. Title X is great idea and won’t take much to implement in jnpg 2. Just a matter if TM will allow it.

Btw, e6 connect is a dead product on arrival for most simulator users, imo. The initial $2500 price plus annual 300-600 subscription fee is nuts.

TGC2019 multiplayer looks good from the videos. HBs marketing is pretty damn good. Able to sell these upgrades as new games year after year. PP has practically zero advertising.

Yea E6 is on the pricey side for sure. I do think they've priced the gamer's out of the product for sure. The Tittle x and 12 courses for $ 169 was a steal imo with 15 courses.  Especially with their pricing, and enjoying the play for now.  E6 is visually nice with good physics. With 12 actual courses. I could play a 2-4 round event each week and not repeat for 3 months.  Rainy days I'll play 18 holes on a tournament that's been posted in the E6 cloud. Wish JNPG would start their own kick starter campaign and build a device.  Hands down JNPG is the best looking game for sure IMO. With all it offers JNPG is a bargain for sure.  Wish I had room for a GC2 also.

Waiting for emails from E6 on the E6 connect and reduced fee for gamer's with tittle x api. Don't hurt to ask.  I always got 27 holes to play at my condo year around.   At least until i need a walker.     First email they sent had a $1500 option (ouch) to purchase software, plus a $300 yearly fee.  If they had a thriving community i might consider that.
