Couple of things i would like to know...

1. Has the chipping been improved?  does it still have the default high trajectory that is not realistic and does it still check up in a weird way from time to time.

2. Is the pitch shot still a guaranteed birdie or get out of jail shot, way to easy to stop it on a dime as it was from 40 to 70 yds

As for Scottsdale, i'm wondering if they did indeed use lidar as their version appears very flat on almost every hole, the course is actually more rolling than it looks in that video.  The lidar i used was not great, i had to sculpt plenty to give it a more accurate feel, maybe they had access to the same quality lidar and did nothing with it, just left it flat.  That hole 16 shows as 2 ft down from tee to green, pretty sure its a bit more than that IRL.

just watched some guy playing scottsdale, DoGgs wins!!!  :)  :P  ;)
Hole 16, don't know why they failed to add in the stadia?? lazy!  :P

Kinda funny that a game with older graphics and kinda dull textures looks way more realistic than a game coming out today. If PG2 would just ever get here it will blow TGC out of the water looks and gameplay wise.. IF,IF,IF........

Looks like micro transactions are available in the Xbox store but no actual game as of 6:30 am EST. Lol, how lame. The pooch as been screwed big time over this debacle.

I may have said this before but I will say it again anyway.

I'm all for "realism" in games especially sports games, but the "fun" factor will always trump pure realism.  That's why I've been playing TGC2 (and most likely TGC 2019) almost exclusively.

As for the value of a product (i.e. price), It is subjective and therefore no one is right or wrong in their opinion.  ;)

-MERACE

Agree 100% Merace!   Setting graphics, the way the crowds look etc. aside, I can see myself having fun playing this game.. I am no pro sports gamer/golfer, so the challenge is there for me.. just enough so to keep me interested, all while having fun.

I saw the ApexHounds stream and if I didn't know better could easily have mistaken it for TGC2 with some new UI overlays.

Just feels too much to me like a triple AAA price for TGC2.5, but that's just my opinion.

I'm sure the folks that buy it will get loads of enjoyment out of it.

Lots of content out there to eat up now (streams, etc)..

Game seems to look good, have good lighting and good polish.

It seems like a good release for the TGC fans and really feels like what TGC2 should have been (PGA stuff aside of course)

The one area I'm interested to hear comment on over time is the difficulty level.

I can't believe how much I'm seeing people, on their first day with it, just hit fairway and green, fairway and green - even with off line and tempo shots, supposedly on the hardest club set.

I definitely understand the need for accessibility and maybe all these guys are just amazing at the game - could be - but it does sound like they tweaked this down a bit from TGC2 from what some of the streamers have been saying.

Maybe that won't matter to players ultimately?

I notice some of the old TW style game gaming crowd is eating it up.

Consumers love to have "birdie be Par" and "Par 3's are HIO opportunities over and over again" - lol

Apex Hound video is up.  He's walking through Career Mode.

Sorry for the inconvenience Richard.

I watched this video and thought WTH is up with this.  Since when do women play and win on the WEB.com tour?  Also forget stopping the ball on the greens as it looks just like the first two versions of the game where the roll out on the greens is pretty unreal.  Sorry but for 49.99 my wallet stays in my pocket and looks the same as TGC2 IMHO so why would I bother.

I just wanted to chime in and say TGC2 looks very good and has a HUGE amount of resources/objects available to the course designers and the gameplay was pretty good to but it was arcade and I got sick of seeing the -15 or lower scores on the highest difficulty even. I am enjoying JNPG more now because even at Amatuer it gives me more realistic scores. I can go to Pro and it becomes just a bit tougher for me but there is NO WAY i'd go to Pro because that is completely anus because of the tempo..lol

JNPG still looks great and I fully believe in Mike Jones and Andrew, I just hope I am not dead before JNPG2 comes out and "IF" it ever comes out instead of just being a simulation player game because not everyone has 10 foot ceilings to swing a club.

Great point - I've seen that mentioned in 3 different streams now.

There was even testing of using the Loft Grid Box thing to try to get some backspin and stop the ball = didn't work.

Not sure what the thought there is from HB

Better get TGC 3.0 soon.  They are starting work on TGC 4.0 as we type.

What balls do you guys play with in real life that that ball just stops dead all the time and what is the condition of the green? Even a wedge I can't stick, it still goes about 10 feet after the pitch mark and I played probably a softer green on thursday because it was morning and there was dew on it yet. This looks pretty good to me but I am not a pro golfer who can stop them on a dime it seems. Trying to hit a longer iron to the green and expect it to stop dead? Sorry not going to happen.

Both games the physics are not perfect but even though I like to play JNPG more because of the challenge TGC2 had way better physics or what I see in real life. Although I can't hit it that long and would like the ability to adjust to my yardage I play at.

to clean, and those avatars what a hoot, are they supposed to look alive.lol

then again i did not get sucked into TGC2, that game is just not in the same league as this one.

i had a hard time believing people got sucked in the second time.

what do ya guess the percentage of people going back for a 3rd let down.lol

my guess would be at least 75 oh well i hope they like it.

But Pro's can and that's an aim of that game (to represent Pro level play) - or at least I thought it was..

I agree. I play on the simulator and unless I get about 10,000 backspin, the ball doesn't spin back. Forget 7-pw shots, those always hit the green, bounce forward a few feet and roll a couple more feet. That's how real life is unless you're a PGA professional or exceptional golfer. These guys want every shot to stop at the pin I guess for easy birdie chances. Welcome addition IMO when it plays more realistically

ok - but realistically for whom?

Even at the highest levels with the best players, who theoretically are supposed to be at "PGA Tour Level" you can't get the ball to stop, let alone spin back - apparently (lots of discussion about this from streams to reddit, etc).

That seems right to you?

I haven't played the game yet so I don't know the extent of what the issue is other than seeing a video or 2 but I guess if they want realistic physics they need to accept the fact that unless you're hitting a 7 iron extremely high and landing it into soft greens, it's not gonna stop dead.

Any wedge 50 degrees or higher from a fairway lie can and absolutely should be able to stop dead or even spin back when hit correctly. If it's the case that even those clubs are bouncing and rolling out then maybe the green settings are too hard who knows

I'm more worried about playing from the rough. In tgc2 I couldn't hit a damn club more than like 100 yards from a rough lie. It ruined any enjoyment of the game for me because it is not realistic at all. Trust me, I play most my real golf from shit lies in the rough and rarely do I need to go from a 7 iron length up to like a hybrid just to get the ball go 100 yards lol
