just played first round on TGC2019 as I had a large credit on Steam that I wanted to use up and I shot a magnificent 84 on one of the undescript courses.
Gameplay was ok, good for some basic fun but still prefer JNPG so far
Intel 9900k @5GHZ
Asus RTX 3090 Strix OC
32GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4-3200
Asus ROG Maximus XI Formula Z390
Noctua NH-D15 Cromax
Fractal Design Meshify S2
WDC WD10EFRX 1TB NVME drive
2x 14TB Hitachi NAS HDD
Colour scheme by Nigel Tufnell- "None more black"

Interesting comment I saw online - Curious for those enjoying the new game so far - Fair comment here?
I dismissed this a few days ago in another post... BUT
After putting in too many more hours, I've gotta agree. The spin rates are just completely broken. That or the default ball is a f***** Pinnacle.
Every single green acts like a links green in the middle of the summer.
Hey guess what links greens are massive because they're rocks. Playing from 225 to a 200 sq ft American postage stamp ass green with front bunkering is impossible.
The pitch physics piss me off the most. One of my favorite shots in real life, and one of the easiest, is the 40 yard one hop stop. Thing never gets more than 15 feet off the ground and glues itself to the green.
I'm sitting here hitting lob wedge pitches with some added loft in game and watching them roll 20 yards in disbelief.
It's like the game calculates spin rate for the initial impact then just sorta... Stops.
On top of that, my ball will roll 30 yards at like 2mph and I'm like "oh s*** this green is hella fast" then my subsequent putt at the same speed will go 15 feet.
Like, did the game change my backspin into topspin when the ball landed??
I'm loving this game. It honestly reminds me of real golf.
I'm actually grinding and thinking through all my shots instead of the point and squirt mechanics of the EA versions. But the approach physics are f**************.
Also HB studios clearly doesn't understand golf architecture but that's neither here nor there.
At least it's a realistic representation of the s**** grindy "f*** you" golf courses the real tour frequents.
A few of them are nice, but homie a 479 yard 4 where the fairway is never more than 20 yards wide is not the proper way to build a course.
And holy s*** some of the doglegs. Blows my mind.

The thing is, that post is half accurate and half not
And this whole "links golf the ball rolls forever thing" needs to stop. Americans come over and play the EXACT same target golf game they do every week on the PGA tour. These guys hit it so far, so high, and spin it so much, there is no such thing as a green they can't hold as long as it's made with grass. Rory is Mr. Ireland, he can't hit a knockdown to save his life and why would he? it's almost never needed and it definitely isn't in the Open unless it's just stupid 40 mph wind or something.
But yes, the spin physics are atrocious and have been since they ruined the franchise with TGC2. Dispersion is terribly done as well with a driver going way straight than a lob wedge lol. They don't understand the relationship to path/face/launch... at ALL.
And the 479 20 yard thing lol welcome to Bethpage Black
It was the hardest I've ever seen it this year and if they have the rough that is there for next years PGA the PGA may be the highest scoring major.
But people on the tgc forum are upset about hairstyle options so when that's the stuff getting catered to, having terrible things like a driver head that looks like it's the size of a 3 wood, are going to happen.
It's a better game than 2 was just due to the interface and how much better chipping works. But still a ton to do.
It's really just TGC 1.3 and the whole "we are a small studio" thing is no longer valid when the price is $49.99

The pitch in TGC has always annoyed me, even a 75yd pitch is easy to get in close with. It's just a rescue or birdie guarantee. It was the same with PG until the guys killed it and added roll out, i'm so glad they did too, you just can't be having these bail out shots that just kill the immersion. The lack of spin in TGC 2019 is hardly a surprise, none of their games incorporated it very well and to add it now would prob mean a rewrite of the game code, and that would have meant them charging AAA price for their game.....

Pitch in TGC2019 is not only not a bail out anymore it's the opposite - it releases like a driver on a 14 stimp fairway
There isn't any shot that the ball stops without rolling out even flops that fly 6 feet and roll 20 more

Lol really! so they are back to TGC 1 then...roll out that's beyond the extreme, way back when when i said i had no faith in HB, it's these things that just prove my point, they don't know what they are doing, they really don't.

This might sound right. As didn't HBS state that they were having to 'start again' as the code for TGC2 was tied in the deal with Maximum Games so they were unable to use it. Sounds to me like they've resurrected the TGC1 game physics (which HBS would have access to) tweaked the swing mechanic and put a PGA Tour badge on the game. Other than the Speedtree inclusion it doesn't seem like they have done much else with the course designer, other re-hash the old one and add a few themes, objects and design tools.
I gave them (HBS) another go and bought TGC2 for my PS4, but just didn't get on with it and this time I'll be giving TGC2019 a miss.
To all those buying TGC2019, I sincerely hope you enjoy it and have some fun with it. I can now depart this thread knowing that HBS golf games are not for me.

No, not really.
The trajectories of all shots are too low which I believe is impacting the spin imparted on the ball and the ability to stop the ball sooner.

I've not played it yet but the ball rolling out too much sounds like a pretty easy fix either by changing the physics of the course surfaces or by altering the spin decay of the ball flight.

Can you PM HB_Shaun over there so he can get it fixed for me please? LOL!

I have not bought the 2019 version and most likely wont as I already have the first two versions for PC and Xbox One and no sense wasting the money. I have said since it came out the ground physics are horrible and wont change my mind as the suck at best.

WOOOOOOOO just won my first PGA tour event and I'm in the money
Bugatti? Ferrari?
No, I won 79 bucks and may be able to buy the cheapest shirt and a lemonade. How the hell do these people claim to be professional sports game developers when they clearly have no understanding of the sport they're trying to present.

So there's no chat in the multiplayer you have to use steam chat which doing so with randos is silly?
lol who possibly thinks that's ok?

the problem with the peeps here is that they approach tgc as a golf simualtion, it isnt.
its a good golfgame. i just got it today on xbox and i sure like it sofar, supersmooth.
the whole presentation, the menus is miles and miles better that jnpg
just dont treat it as a simulator.
and yes buck it looks like that. btu the trees in the back are not so good.
