the problem with the peeps here is that they approach tgc as a golf simualtion, it isnt.

its a good golfgame. i just got it today on xbox and i sure like it sofar, supersmooth.

the whole presentation, the menus is miles and miles better that jnpg

just dont treat it as a simulator.

and yes buck it looks like that.   btu the trees in the back are not so good.

Good games don't have the following

1) no concede hole in match play (it's a huge part of match play)

2) the driver head is about the size of a 3 wood now

3) there is no spin on the ball, ever

4) payouts for winning pga events are about what a basic shirt costs - I bet this is game balance so we don't earn so much money we don't need to buy their stinking DLC

5) graphics looks like TGC1, the bunkers look worse

I could add 20 more off the top of my head, this is not a premium title nor are they a premium team but they're now charging like one.  Their choices are headshaking bad, always.  They COULD of course give us what you suggest this is, a good game, they choose not to OR the project management is so poor by the lame producer, that the devs are actually neutered because of poor leadership (that's my guess).

They had a great producer, the one they have now wouldn't get hired to manage a wal-mart.  Their communication sucks, their marketing sucks, and their product sucks.

To be fair to TGC and attempt to be objective here..

If you had to name some positives from the TGC line and 2019 in particular, what would you say?

Myself, I do like the menu system and the ball striking sounds. And finally they have local multi player with the ability to customize the character along with club selection as well.

Agreed - the GUI is nice...although I do still find some hints from the past (things like the turn order button) and some areas for optimization (like picking round length - it should show what's selected before having to click down a level IMO).

The GUI consistently gets better and is quite approachable now.
I'm not sure about that in the context of course picking though.

That still feels a bit clumsy and daunting, which it likely always will given the amount of data to sort and select from in TGC course world.

Remember the impossible to get achievement to be worth 1,000,000 in TGC2 when you only won like 2,000 a tournament? Lol, what a joke.

You wouldn't know this Buck but I was the biggest HB and TGC fan there was.

Even participated in the beta for TGC2 and watched a really solid game halfway through get turned into trash with more care given to things like the character generator than more important things like ball physics, rules of golf, stats, etc.

I came to TGC not from the Tiger Woods series, I hated that lame crap.  I came from PGA Championship Golf, the last golf game I cared about until TGC.

They were on the right path, then changed course and it's clear the person managing the project is not too interested in giving us a sequel to TGC1.  They now want to make Tiger Woods 2020, I hated that cartoon crap.  So, of course, I'm going to dislike anything having to do with it.

For 2019 they've done some good stuff with the menu's, the sounds seem great, I love the ball trail in bunkers, the pitch mark on greens, the chipping engine is far better but it's obvious this is still the same flawed code with some of the same terrible physics issues being present like chips being affected by wind, the flop being so broken it's a farce, and so much more.

You watched TGC 2 degenerate into the mess it is, yet you bought 2019 on release.  The classic case of buying a yearly version of the same game for fear of being left behind.  They sucked you in man, HB don't care what you have to say, they have plenty of back slappers over at HB forum.  Their game MUST appeal to the masses, hence the dumb down of master clubs difficulty, it's not the finer points of the game that will bring the money in so they don't care about them.  They obviously care even less about the PC community as their mouse swing has gone from bad to worse according to the many complaints i have seen.  Will be interesting to see how many copies they sell on PC because at that price i would be amazed if there are many takers outside of the die hards, and i see the reviews have pushed it into the mixed bracket.  This will be in the steam sale at 66% off before you know it.

350 people playing it last night on steam which is 3x more than this game ever had but still a very small number compared to other games.  It's a niche, always has been and always will be.

They didn't suck me in, I got it because there were a few improvements I wanted to take advantage of, most notably the spline/fill surface function (which is how it should have always worked).  So I'll spend more time with it designing than playing and be bothered by all the shortcomings a little less because of that.

And I don't know, with masters I'm only shooting a few under so they aren't that easy.  Artificial difficulty like tour pro in this game isn't the answer either.

I would agree they don't care about the PC crowd but if you want to make money making a golf game, you almost can't, unfortunately.  And I know full well they don't care what I have to say, my constructive criticism fell on deaf ears for a long time until it turned into frustration.  They were brilliant at marketing when Anthony ran the show and interacted better with a community than any game company I'd ever seen.  His departure was the departure of that from that building along with the project management, vision, etc.

And I agree with the steam sale thing, before Christmas for sure, it's $19.99 and people should wait.  I wanted to get a course or two out (despite you thinking how terrible my courses are) before the masses picked it up because I enjoy designing :)

Lol there are female players in the pga tour

I think Annika and Michelle Wie learned that isn't going to happen

The quality control is outstanding

I am sure they wanted to be "inclusive" lol

At least there is an option for a female avatar unlike another golf game. :)

I hope you port over your Deliverance course.

I loved playing that course. :)

Well I watch the PGA Tour on Tv and i see all sorts a ball trajectories coming form every player
Some hit high, low, and med all sorts. Off the tee High and low and lots of spin with shorter irons
I played off 9-10 hcap for years and years, so i can play and am clued in to golf

I dont see this in TGC2019, Tee shots with driver  look low
Short irons i see hardly any spin- shurely they  should have got this right, this is way off the mark
It`s stopping me from buying right now, this is really annoying, what are thinking, they better   include this fix in the next update .

So i see  a sort of resemblance to the PGA Tour  re ball trajectories anyway but it`s not right though.

Textures havent improved
Bunkers look the same
I prefer PG Course designer and Tgc game play

Still no Real Life Course height maps for designers who have to spend countless hours trying to do their best
More consultation and feedback with members would have resulted in a better product
Pr and promotion- they  did this same scenerio with tgc2 ,  well this reminds me of Ground hog day and Charlie and the chocolate factory

Now they want me to pay $65 aussie dollars

If they  fix the ball trajectory issues which are clear and most obvious then maybe  i might ...

Cheers

I love the view of the other player in multiplayer. I think they really nailed that. Really feels like your standing on the back of the tee watching them hit their shot and the glowing ball is kind of cool too.

Back in 99/2000 with pga championship golf you could play in a tournament and see ALL the players avatars

That game had about everything neither of these has and was better than both combined

To think we've gone backwards and not progressed is just amazing to me
