Sunday September 9th 2018.

I am making an official anouncement that I will not be purchasing TGC 2019.

there'll be no honest review from me on that game.

carry on.

The holes are starting to appear in career mode, got a friend ( decent player ) he's playing master clubs and very hard,  the game difficulty is coming from high winds, hard greens and badly cut pins in every event he has played so far.  Why would they employ high winds in every event just to help ramp up the difficulty? it obiously bears no resemblance to the actual PGA tour and screams artificial...so glad i dodged a bullet with this game.

Maybe to mask the inadequacies of the actual game play mechanic?

But I'm sure the TGC2019 regulars will tell us all this is not so and your comments from your mates' experience are totally inaccurate, lol.

He and his friends are right. I am also glad dogs did not buy the game.

Nothing to do with the game mechanics.

Has everything to do with poor design of Career Mode.

Cannot edit or adjust anything which is badly needed.

Well Hurricanes will make you do strange things and being I couldnt be at the beach this weekend and stuck in Greensboro NC I figured well I would have spent more than 50 bucks on playing real golf so what the hell and bought the dang thing.  I will say this its better than the first two versions and I actually played a few rounds and can live with it.  Now I know I said I wouldnt buy it but hey its just 50 Bucks and at least there is a career mode and wish was better but its something.  I also like that at least they let you change the ground and wind conditions so thats a plus.  Now is it a simulation no its not but I think it will do for a change of pace and my go to golf game is still JNPG but again it was only 50 bucks.  Funny but to be honest I didnt mind the game play as it was easier than TGC2 and one plus is that I can also sit in my recliner and play on my 46 inch Sony and that is relaxing.  With JNPG I pretty much have to play in front of my monitor as I play RTSM and still not finding the perfect match for the mouse in my recliner but I am getting close to getting it figured out.  So for now some kick around golf will be with the controller in my chair and will just call it my Arcade experience sort of like Super Mega Baseball II is to my The Show.

I did not buy the game for Career Mode.

At least TGC2019 has a CM.....and it is a couple of patches from being VERY good.

How is that CM working out here?

They clearly have some work to do in career mode.  Your friend is right.  The difficulty setting is just... stupid.

But it's a start and I feel like they'll eventually have something that is decent enough to please most.  I'm actually enjoying the career mode which surprised me.  I didn't think I'd play career mode at all but something about it is at least engaging enough to keep me coming back for more.

What I'm really enjoying so far though is society play and private matches.  I've got a handful of friends on the PC that I've been playing with on the regular now.  JNPG's online play is slightly better because it has an actual lobby which makes it easier to see everyone who's online and you have a chance of setting up a match with a random player.

I kinda see TGC 2019 as the foundation for a good series.  Hopefully 2K will bring some expertise in areas of online play, PGA TOUR player licensing, and improved career mode.

But still... for those that hated TGC1 and/or TGC2, you're just never going to like any other future iterations.  Nothing wrong with that.  I like both games.  They are fairly different from each other and I still maintain that TGC is more arcade leaning while JNPG is more sim leaning.  If JNPG2 ever comes out with ANY focus on anything other than simulator users then I'll definitely check it out.  The game has a ton of potential.

Mebby you just hit it perfect with the word Arcade as that is what TGC 2019 is an Arcade game and if you are good with that then the game isn't that bad. I play JNPG for my sim fix and really enjoy now just sitting in my recliner and having a little fun with TGC 2019 in the evening.

It's really strange how they arrive at their decisions for the difficulty in career.  I can imagine them having a daily meeting, someone raises the question of how the difficulty will be implemented in career for easy to very hard.  They get to very hard and someone says " Ramp the wind up and make the A.I. bullet proof to the conditions"   " I like it Jeff, right whats next on the agenda"   Spin? whats that?

That had to be pretty much how it played out, unbelievable really! and they have no shame in charging £45 for it...wow!

Still beating that dead horse eh? Maybe you should make some protest signs and go picket HB HQ so they really know how you feel.

DoGgs you are correct on that spin as that is why I call it an Arcade experience.  I will say this tho as I would rather not have spin than how it was implemented in TW series where you pushed a button continuously to create the spin.  At times the spin in JNPG can be overcooked but still the best I have ever seen in a video game and why for a Sim experience I will always play JNPG.

Ahack, Never take any post of mine regarding TGC seriously ( not that you do i guess )  i like picking and teasing TGC's die hards that i know visit this thread, its all tongue in cheek stuff.  I don't own TGC 2019 so my opinions are second hand at best.  We all enjoy certain games for various reasons, power to you all...But lets be honest here, HB studios have nailed their colours to the mast by acting the AAA developer with their pricing policy and they deserve to get shot down for every fail that is found in their game.  For £25 they prob have a decent golf title on their hands, but £45 is quite the insult, and yes i prob am flogging a dead horse, but its fun...for now.
