From The Golf Club 2019's official Twitter page:

Tune in tomorrow as @PGATOUR stars @collin_morikawa and @carlosortizGolf throw down in #TGC2019! The virtual challenge will air tomorrow at 12pm ET / 9am PT on PGA TOUR digital platforms, including https://bit.ly/2S10c3M, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and GOLFTV.

I think I'll start with YouTube and if that doesn't work, back to Twitter.  GOLFTV isn't available in the USA yet, according to their web page.  This will be worth a look-see though.  I'd actually only heard the names of both golfers mentioned before, but would not have been able to look at their picture and tell you who it was.

I'm curious to see how they handle the asynchronous mode lag in a live broadcast.  It's going to confuse viewers when they hear a reaction from the golfers to something that is going to show up on their screens at least 5 seconds later... I'm sure the network broadcast lag will add more delay, but it will probably delay the audio and the animation.

The biggest surprise to me is that they aren't playing it on one of the officially licensed PGA TOUR courses; they're playing it at Tauno Palo's brilliant rendition of TPC Louisiana (TPC Louisiana TOUR FIXED).  I guess they're trying to follow NASCAR's lead and go with the site where the IRL event would have been for this week.

I wish them the best with this though and hope it goes well.  I don't know how they could ever pull anything off with this game on as massive a scale as eNASCAR with iRacing.  The game's just not built to support a full broadcast environment with multiple players in action all over the course.  Anyway, keeping my fingers crossed that this goes well!

Been watching the virtual F1 past few weeks, Charles Le Clerc has won the last 2 races against fellow drivers, the Real Madrid goal keeper and even Ian poulter.  There are also some serious sim racers involved so Le Clerc did very well. The trouble with the golf is no video game golf actually replicates the game like F1 does, with that i can't imagine them being any good, especially as TGC short game is so devoid of any feel.

I'll have to check that out DoGgs.  I have caught a bit of the IndyCar/iRacing action and it's been pretty impressive.  I think Fox is doing a great job with the eNASCAR/iRacing action.  They also have gotten a lot of big name drivers to compete in it, and that's what makes the ratings.  Racing lends itself much better to simulation in the home though.  A good wheel and pedal set can be had for $400 and you're in business.

For golf to work on the scale of racing with this esports interlude, you'd have to have a bunch of pros playing from launch simulators and it would be too cumbersome for TV.

I found a deal on this game but it says Will NOT activate in: OUTSIDE-EUROPE-AFRICA-MiddleEast

Since I'm in the states, this wouldn't work for me? Wonder if a vpn would work? The price is $6.75

Wish I could help you with this pro, but I've never encountered that.  If you have an XBox One, you can download and play TGC 2019 free until May 14th on it, if you're just wanting to try it out.  I played it on the stock XBox One and it was so-so.  It looks like a different game on the XBox One X.  They took more advantage of the extra power of the X than I would have given HB Studios credit

Hmmm... I've never even tried to play it offline.  Let me give it a go and see what happens.   I'll report back...

I just tested this last night.  Yes, TGC 2019 will allow you to play any of the official courses offline.  It actually plays better like this because it's not interrupted by calls to the network at occasionally inopportune times.  OTOH, it leaves you playing rounds on like 28 courses with no competitive options unless you happen to have a player in your home to compete with.

Kenneth,

Perhaps your question would be better posted on TGC forum....Not sure if you might have posted there already since I rarely visit TGC forum.  In any event, hope you get an answer to your question.

Kenneth, the few times I've accepted those notifications, I was able to join the round, but I don't remember the specifics.  I mostly play TGC 2019 on the XBox One X though, and I take it you're talking about the PC/Steam version?  When you do this though, you'll be playing in asynchronous mode, and even of the player you've joined waits for you to catch up to where they're at, the action will be 4 to 7 seconds behind what you're hearing over the headset if you're in chat with the host.  It's okay, but it's hard to not vocally react to something, thereby tipping off the nature of the result, before your opponent gets to see it play out on their screen.

Kenneth, you're welcome... I tell you what, give me an idea of the next time you're going to be online in the game.  When I see that you're on, I'll create a game and see if we can't get your notification system to work.  I don't believe I have you on my Steam friends list.  My Steam name is "JohnRC".  Send me an FR and we can go from there.  Thanks!

I wound up having to go help a friend move her business at 2 PM today and didn't get home until 8:30 PM, so I wouldn't have been around then... sorry.  Tomorrow looks better.

Well Kenneth, it looks like the "Invite to Round" from non "Private Matchmaking" round isn't working for me either on Steam, as we experienced earlier today.  I'm not sure what's going on with Steam, because I couldn't even send you a text message to advise you what options I was trying.  At least we got the Steam voice chat working, albeit it with a 5 second delay that makes normal chat a chore.  I'm accustomed to having everything built in on the XBox One and I found it difficult to go between TGC 2019's in-game multiplayer settings and Steam's, and have them work together to finally bring about a match.

As you saw, once we got in game it flowed smoothly (other than the 5 second voice chat delay, and really a low quality audio voice chat at that).  This round made me realize that I need to keep running TGC 2019 at 4K on my PC.  It runs the game between 30 and 35 FPS at that res and it feels a lot closer to the tempo I've developed for the XBox One version, which is locked at 30 FPS.  I probably wouldn't have put a 10 and a 7 on my scorecard had I have done that in this round B)

My son tells me that he has Discord set up on this computer, but I don't have an account for it yet.  He's going to help me with that tonight.  I use iRacing's built in voice chat and it works great when I'm iRacing, but they're also a high quality subscription service and don't do anything halfway.  Anyway, I'm going to bounce what I saw today off of some of my PC version playing friends and see where I went wrong trying to invite you to a Local play round.  I never have that trouble on the XBox One, for Local play and for Society play.
